Fabulous Stay
Stayed here last night for a business trip and would highly recommend. Really friendly staff, lovely rooms with comfy beds and great views over the Solway Firth, food is outstanding, we had an evening meal and breakfast and both were superb. I'll definitely be staying here again.

We was recommended by family to try out the food at powfoot. and we had the most lovely time there, the fmain course was excellent, the dessert is excellent too! The services was excellent, great staffs. Will be visiting again in the future. Absolutely recommended to everyone!

Booked direct with the hotel for a stopover while en route Scotland to Wales. arrived in the dark and woke to a glorious sunrise over the Solway Firth before it turns into the river Esk. Very friendly welcome and an upgrade to the 3 rooms I had booked over the phone. Large comfortable rooms at the front of the hotel, two of which had balconies. Enjoyed dinner in the bar, which was excellent and good value. Good wine by the glass, great draught beer and very good service. The owner was a mine of local information, and made us feel very 'at home'. Breakfast was just as good and on the journey South we all agreed that we had made a really lucky find and would make a point of staying there again, perhaps in the summer to explore the area fully.
Be the first to ReplyGreat service from everyone in this beautiful hotel
Wow. What a lovely hotel. It might have been a cold dark November night but it was warm and cosy with a lovely fire creating a perfect bar area for a fabulous meal. The food was excellent and so was the service. It was our first visit to the hotel and it certainly won't be our last. My only hope is that the weather is better next time so that my husband can get a game of golf at Powfoot golf club.
Be the first to ReplyA perfect treat
We stayed at Powfoot for the final night of a bike packing tour of the Galloway region. The location was perfect for us and we were treated to a sea view room, superb. Everything was perfect. A friendly welcome, a beautifully appointed room, quiet and comfortable, delicious evening meal at a very reasonable price and breakfast was perfect too. All the staff were happy to go out of their way to help and ensure our stay was just right. We’ve already discussed a future visit.
Be the first to ReplyFirst Class Hotel
I travelled to the Powfoot Hotel with a group of friends. Our rooms had been booked in advance. I had to navigate for a friend who took me to the hotel. When we approached Annan there was a warning about closed roads. Eventually I found the minor road to Powfoot village. When we travelled through Powfoot we thought we had missed the hotel. The hotel was almost the last place in Powfoot with ample parking places for residents. We entered through the main entrance near the car park then turned right. The reception desk was small. We were directed to our room. From the first meeting with staff to the finish of our holiday the staff were very pleasant and most helpful. Breakfast was booked for 8.30am. The meal of bacon, black pudding and haggis was a little small but tasty. On another day I tried scrambled egg, again it was very good. The midday meal was booked for 1.30pm. There was a wide choice of starters, main meals and desserts. I ordered different meals each day. We did not have to wait long before the meals were delivered. All but one meal were well presented, hot and full of flavour. One day I ordered pigeon. Sorry, but it was the worst meal I have ever had. I did National Service and studied to qualify for a forest supervisor where meals were rubbish but you had to eat them to survive. The evening meals were first class but many meals were described in a ‘foreign language’ which is so unnecessary. Overall the holiday was first class and enjoyable
Be the first to ReplyA Great Experience At The Powfoot
Perfect place to get away too. It was lovely and quiet, the rooms were spotless and maintained. The staff were very friendly and accomodating and the food here was very good. Being a guest house owner myself I would highly recommend The Powfoot , thank you. Phil & Sian Tracey The Haven Guest House. Holyhead. North Wales.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Afternoon Tea and amazing views!
We had the afternoon tea here and we were blown away! The service was warm and friendly, and the staff members couldn't do enough to help. The sandwiches and cake selection were wonderful; something for everyone's taste and it was all delicious. We were able to use the first floor suite, which was lovely and comfortable with an amazing view over the Solway firth to the Lake District in the distance. A fantastic experience all round.

Be the first to ReplyA really lovely place to stay with great service
Stayed at this lovely hotel for two nights. Fantastic friendly welcome. Stayed in room 11 which has a beautiful view and a lovely new shower room with a great shower. Breakfast was spectacular and served with a smile. We had dinner here too and the food was absolutely delicious - a selection of small plates using local produce. There was a selection of freshly baked cakes and biscuits in the bar/lounge available every day. Thoroughly recommended and thank you to the excellent hotel staff who looked after us both so well.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed
Had a meal at the hotel and in my opinion the food offering has deteriorated as a result of the hotels desire to move upmarket. Previously the hotel offered a range of good pub food which were delicious. The menu now is more upmarket but the quality has gone backwards. I had the venison burger which was dry and bland my wife the lamb which was very fatty.

Excellent service. The large room was warm and comfortable with a lovely outlook over the estuary and golf course and we loved the open sitting areas with stunning views . The staff were so friendly and helpful. Happy memories made. Can’t wait to come back !

Lovely large room with big comfortable bed. Newly decorated spacious bathroom with good shower. Generous and tasty breakfast with local ingredients and best of all fantastic helpful staff. Welcoming lounge with sea views and wood burning stove.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Festive Menu
Feeling fully relaxed and ready for the festive weekend to begin. Thank you for one of the most amazing, flavour packed meals I’ve had in sometime. Your festive menu is delightful and the Slow cooked local beef cheek with red wine jus was melt in my mouth. Your staff are so welcoming and responsive, and the view of the sea whilst cosied up near the real fire a delight. Festive wishes - and we will be back again in the new year for another great dining experience! X
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely fantastic all round!
Just had a weekend break here. What a great location in the Solway Firth with distant views of the Lake District and Pennines. Superb staff - everyone friendly and helpful with nothing too much trouble. Spacious and extremely comfortable and clean rooms gave us a great night’s sleep. Food? An excellent breakfast and a great meal in the attached restaurant in the evening. And exceptional value too! So good we are planning a longer stay in the summer months.

Stayed just one night and was very impressed what you get for your stay. The restaurant served top notch food. The service throughout was friendly and warm. The views from the room at the front we stayed in are tremendous across the estuary and over to cumbria and the rear view of Skiddaw. We saw a Deer on the beach and all manner of seabirds. If your a golfer there is a side gate from the hotel that gets you straight onto the Powfoot golf course (tee 5). To be recommended and we would definably go again. .

The Powfoot Hotel is on the beach and lovely long walks all over the place. We had the last room in the place the Honeymoon Suite. I would have been really disappointed to have spent my honeymoon in here. The room was drab and the balcony could have done with a good power wash. The Hotel has a lovely sitting room at the front overlooking the beach where you can relax watching the sea or read a book. The Restaurant was busy and the food more than made up for the hotel room. The food was excellent as well as the service. We had North Sea Cod Haddock Risotto Pork Cheek Cauliflower florets Black Cabbage Melon salad and chips. We couldn't fit in dessert sadly. Hats off to the Chef. well Executed.

A brief night away to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We plodged across the mud at low tide to watch the birdlife, chilled out and had a lovely meal. Tried to get the superior rooms but could only get a classic, well what a lovely room, nothing basic about it at all. Staff were all local and very friendly, look forward to another stay.

Overnight stay for a birthday treat with Mum. On arrival greeted by Lisa and Tracey like a long lost friend! Room 1 absolutely perfect with gorgeous views of the Solway Firth, golf course and Criffel in the background. Had booked afternoon tea, and it did not disappoint. One coeliac and one standard and served separately as they should be to avoid any cross contamination and absolutely delicious too! Wonderful breakfast. Will definitely be back. Thanks again for a lovely stay.
Be the first to ReplyWe can’t wait to go back
We have just spent three nights at The Powfoot Hotel, 11 guests in 7 rooms. We cannot praise the hotel highly enough for the lovely bedrooms, the friendly, helpful staff and the outstanding food. The location is beautiful overlooking the Solway to the Cumbrian mountains beyond. If you like vast, rapidly changing skies, this is the place to be, right on the waters edge. Our photos can hardly do it justice. The lounge areas have enormous windows where you can sit in comfy sofas and relax, read, have afternoon tea or drinks. The bedrooms are well appointed, some with sea views and beds are very comfortable. Plenty of fresh towels etc. The dining room is first class. We all enjoy eating out and the food whether breakfast or dinner was superb. Plenty of choice, super-fresh ingredients, cooked by a chef who is clearly skilled. You could spend a fews days doing little other than relaxing, walking, golfing but we packed in many of the Robert Burns sights including his house, the first Burns Club, his mausoleum at St Michael’s Kirk, Rutherwell Church of Scotland where Rev Henry Duncan started the first ever savings bank, the Jane Haining exhibition at Dunscore, the JM Barrie museum at Moat Bray, Annandale Whisky distillery and The Devil’s Porridge, a vast ammunitions factory making cordite in WW2. All excellent, well guided tours. This was an excellent trip and we thank Liz, Lyn and all at Powfoot for a wonderful stay.
Be the first to ReplyGreat short break, very peaceful location
My wife and I stayed here for 1 night at the end of February, We were in Room 12 which is a Superior room. It did have a sea view but next time I would probably skip that as the beach is directly outside. Check in was very easy and all staff were very friendly. We have donner in their restaurant (Del Amitris) which was really good, tapas style plates with a good and varied choice, my wife is vegetarian and there were plenty options and they'll adapt meat dishes as well if you ask. Breakfast was excellent, we sat at the window overseeing the beach. It's in a very quiet location and there were good walks nearby. The hotel was quiet when we visited but make sure you book the restaurant when you book the hotel as I understand it can get busy. We will return for sure. If I had one negative then the mattress was a little soft for my liking but that is personal choice I guess.

Went for lunch when staying at QUEENSBERRY Bay. Highly recommend, staff were lovely and food was amazing. Would definitely go again.
Much better than the food on site at the leisure park. Plenty of food and treasonable cost.
Lovely sea views and pleasant setting.
Wonderful stay with fantastic staff
My mum and me stayed at night at the Powfoot hotel while visiting some family and we had a wonderful stay. The room was clean and comfortable. The food was delicious and the staff were so lovely. The location is also excellent on the Solway Firth, really beautiful views! Definitely recommend!
Be the first to ReplyHelpful and understanding staff
We were made to feel most welcome when we arrived and our stay was comfortable, all be it sadly cut short due to the imminent arrival of Storm Dudly. The staff were most accommodating and understanding when our plans had to change due to the weather.
We had a delicious meal and rested well in our very comfortable room. Breakfast was very tasty and set us up for our long, onward journey.
A big thank you to all the staff, the combination of the excellent service from you all makes this a very special place - thank you.
Lovely location, great food and exceptional staff.
We were looking for a short break in Dumfries and Galloway to celebrate my wife's birthday. Our welcome was very warm and helpful and the room was spotless, spacious and very well appointed, with fine views across the Solway Firth. We enjoyed a tasty selection of dishes from the tapas style menu in the hotel restaurant on both nights and delicious hearty breakfasts. What impressed us both most though was the staff who were very friendly and attentive and gave the impression that nothing was too much trouble in ensuring we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay.
