Great Resort In a Matchless Setting, With Some of the Best Onsite Recreational Facilities You Will Ever Find
The Sagamore is a classic resort that keeps evolving and getting better every year. The setting on Lake George is one of the great hidden gems of the country, flanked by mountains and the charming town of Bolton Landing. Local hiking, fishing, golf, and restaurant-going are superb. The staff are unfailingly helpful and charming. The recreational center, moreover, is one of the best of its kind. In addition to tennis and pickleball courts, the Sagamore has a full-scale padel court, indoor and outdoor basketball, mini-golf, and an indoor baseball/ wiffleball field that is perfect for families. Bill Trice is the head tennis pro. He and his colleagues are terrific both at giving private individual and group lessons for adults and kids alike. Bill represents the best of all tennis worlds: trained in the "classical" style, he has also mastered the modern baseline power game, with its lag forehand, open stance, and new mechanics and footwork. If you are either a serious player looking to adapt or learning the game from scratch, the Sagamore tennis courts are the right place to be.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful, relaxing resort
Had a wonderful time staying at the Sagamore with my fiancé in June 2024. The lakefront view from my room (and bathroom!) was stunning. We ate at Caldwell’s and really enjoyed the pizza and lobster bisque. Really enjoyed making s’mores in the evening and playing games in the rec center. On the last day of the stay, we only had a few hours before heading to the airport - the concierge made a perfect suggestion of a local lakefront restaurant to have a meal at. I look forward to visiting again. Beautiful and relaxing resort that felt very luxurious to stay at.
Be the first to ReplyPicturesque and Family Friendly
The Sagamore is somehow both an incredibly upscale resort and family friendly. We traveled with our daughters (3 and 4.5 years) and had a one bedroom suite- rooms are comfortable, cozy vibe, not updated but we'll maintained and very clean. The suite had a mini fridge in the sitting room plus TV. The main hotel is impeccable, and the pools are immaculate and look like something out of a brochure-- the whole property is pristine and feels too beautiful to be true (even in rainy/misty weather which tended to clear quickly). The Rec center is enormous and has mini golf, ping pong, baseball, basketball, a rock wall, movies, crafts, tennis courts-- plus s'mores and live music at night. The fitness center was also very large, filled with beautiful equipment, and overlooking the lake with large windows. The food at the hotel restaurants was delicious, and they were incredibly accommodating and helpful for a peanut/Tree Nut Allergy (which is tough to find!). I had the best lobster roll and brunch buffet on site. I would absolutely recommend the Sagamore for the gorgeous property, location, and luxurious experience. Every team member was kind to my children and us, and the pride they take in their resort is notable!
Be the first to ReplyHorrible Customer Service
Incredibly unprofessional front desk staff and reservation staff. I was following instructions on how to re-book my trip as I couldn't make my original dates and I was hung up on 3 separate occasions, told they could re-book me one day and the next they then said they couldn't and I will not be able to choose different days, just simply out of the entire cost of my stay. I will never book with the Sagamore in Lake George again. Absolutely terrible customer service and staff.

We were at the Sagamore for a wedding and decided to upgrade to a "lake view room" which the description boasted had "breathtaking views of Lake George". We were able to spy bits of the lake through the trees, but most of our "breathtaking view" was a parking lot with noisy delivery trucks and smokestacks. That the Sagamore feels it is appropriate to charge you a premium for such a discount, disappointing view is deceitful. Don't bother!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Family Getaway at the Sagamore Resort
We had an amazing time at the Sagamore Resort on Lake George! I've wanted to stay here since I saw it on Samantha Brown's show 21 years ago, and it didn't disappoint. This place blends historic charm with modern comforts perfectly. The moment we walked through those beautiful French doors into the charming lobby, we felt like we’d stepped back in time. We stayed in a spacious lodge room, which was a nice comfortable size but definitely dated (as others have said). That said I can't stress enough -- you don't go to the Sagamore for the rooms; you go for the experience, and it’s totally worth it. The grounds are gorgeous, with a huge lawn, beautiful gardens, and an infinity pool with stunning lake views. The lobby, with its cozy fireplaces and plush decor, is a perfect retreat year-round. The Sagamore has tons of family-friendly activities. Our kids loved the nightly movies at the rec center and activities like ice cream socials and s'mores nights. The free boat tour on a replica steamer was a big hit, with different routes throughout the day showing off the lake’s history. Dining at the Sagamore was great. We enjoyed meals at La Bella Vita, The Pavilion, and BRGR (formerly Mr. Brown’s Pub). The turkey burger at BRGR was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had! The setting is perfect for parents who want to enjoy a meal in peace while their kids run and play. During dinner, the lawn was full of kids playing tag, cartwheeling, and rolling around, occasionally running to the restaurant porches and balconies to ask, "Is my food here yet?" Parents can relax and watch the fun from a bird's-eye view. Here are our three big takeaways: 1. You're not paying for the room! I can't stress this enough since there are some fair and accurate reviews that the rooms are dated but don't let that dissuade you! 2. Photos truly don’t do it justice - It's truly stunning and such a beautiful place to sit, relax and soak up the surroundings. 3. Put the phones down! The beauty of this place is that it gives you everything you need to truly disconnect to reconnect and relax. If you're wondering about whether or not to make time for the town of Lake George, our take (while likely controversial) is not to waste your time. If you're visiting the Sagamore, stay there. You're paying for a gorgeous resort with so much to do. Don't waste your time with kitschy shops and rip-off arcades. We went to the town for an hour 1/2 that felt like 10 and I couldn't wait to get back. The Sagamore really feels like an oasis. Soak it up! A gorgeous resort, with beautiful lake and mountain views. We enjoyed the outdoor swimming pool, which offered comfortable temperatures while overlooking Lake George and the mountains. There was great poolside service, and food delivered for the children. It was very relaxing. We had diner at Burger, which the kids enjoyed. We were celebrating a child's birthday, so really only had kids' food, which they all enjoyed. We received a special-order cake at our room, and I would highly recommend this enhancement, as it was one of the best cakes I have ever tasted. We stayed in the lodges, with two connecting rooms to accommodate our larger group. There was a tremendous amount of space, a kitchenette, and wonderful views of the walking trail and lake from one room. It was an easy walk to the Rec Center, but we utilized the shuttle to go to the hotel, this was just a short wait once you called. Every staff person we encountered was friendly and welcoming and was available to us for whatever we needed to have the most incredible stay.

The tennis pro, Bill Trice, is a terrific player and teacher, and a consummate gentleman. highly recommended. The green clay courts are also in great condition, thanks to Bill’s skill and experience in court maintenance. A great experience.
Be the first to ReplyPleasant Getaway!
We booked the Sagamore Inn for three days as a getaway. We stayed in Lodge #5 in a King lakeview suite. The room was beautiful and fully equipped with anything we needed including a kitchen with dishes, stovetop, microwave fridge..even a dishwasher! The huge bedroom had a stunning view of the Lake with large windows. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was also very large with both a tub and probably one of the best showers I have ever used! The little porch with adirondack rockers was a great place to read or have an after dinner drink! The only drawback for this unit would be that it is a considerable walk to the main lodge which was fine for us but might be a bit far for seniors or small children. The dining staff were attentive and friendly. The two dinners we had were mediocre but we really enjoyed our breakfast every morning, especially when it was warm enough to eat on the veranndah. We would definitely return to this beautiful resort again!
Be the first to ReplyFamily Bliss by the Lake: Our Unforgettable Stay at The Sagamore Resort.
The Sagamore Resort provided the perfect family weekend getaway! The friendly and accommodating staff made our stay enjoyable, and the lakeside location offered breathtaking views from both our balcony and the main floor. The diverse food options with various themes were a treat, and the short yet scenic drive added to the overall pleasant experience. A wonderful time spent with family.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing, and thank you!
Our experience at the Sagamore was nothing short of exceptional! This marked our tenth consecutive year of making cherished memories with friends and family. Nestled amidst breathtaking scenery on Lake George, the resort offers picturesque views that never fail to captivate us. The staff’s warmth and hospitality ensures every moment of our stay is met with genuine care and attention. The rooms are immaculate, comfortable, and luxurious. The food and drinks are always amazing! The rec center is second to none, with a wiffle ball field, basketball courts, miniature golf, and way too much more to list! The Sagamore is an unforgettable blend of beauty, comfort, and unparalleled hospitality- a true testament to why we keep coming back year after year. Finally, a most sincere thank you to the amazing staff- you are all appreciated more than you will know!

Our annual stay at the Sagamore in Bolton Landing was nothing less than spectacular! We are always so impressed by the beautiful grounds, oversized suite with fireplace and welcoming staff. We indulged in top notch cocktails and delicious meals on site, and all the waitstaff were so friendly and accommodating. Our children absolutely loved the variety of options in the recreation center, indoor pool and outdoor warming pool - they were entertained for hours! We will definitely be back!

Amazing Resort in an amazing location. The views are stunning and the ambiance is warm and welcoming. The rooms are clean and spacious. We enjoyed all the activities and amenities the hotel had to offer but it was the staff that made our stay wonderful. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend you check out the spa. Looking forward to coming back.

We recently stayed at the Sagamore in Bolton Landing, NY with a group of families and had a wonderful experience. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The service and food was exceptional, along with the rooms and facilities. This is our tenth year visiting and look forward to returning next year.

Great Getaway for the Family. It can be tough traveling with small children (a three year old and a six month old) but thanks to the wonderful staff and accommodations at the Sagamore we had such an amazing time. The resort also has the best breakfast and a wonderful rec room for the kids. We will be back again soon.
Be the first to ReplyAnother fantastic stay
Another fantastic stay at the Sagamore! Our annual neighbors trip to the Sagamore resulted in 7 families making the trip to beautiful Bolton Landing. Adults and children all enjoyed the amenities at the resort from the pool to the recreation center. The lodge rooms were comfortable as always and the updates in the main hotel did not go unnoticed. The wait staff at all the restaurants were extremely accommodating and friendly as always. And whatever the dressing is on the salads at Caldwell’s ….. kept me coming back for more! I need that recipe. I look forward to my time at the Sagamore each year and this year certainly did not disappoint. .
Be the first to ReplyLoved the Sagamore!!
As a child, I had vacationed in Lake George many years and had always enjoyed the beautiful and pristine lake, boating experiences, lake activities, etc. While boating on the lake, I was always extremely impressed by the grandeur of The Sagamore Resort, it was stunning. Recently, my husband and I were fortunate enough to have had the opportunity for our first stay at the resort, and it far exceeded our expectations. The resort was gorgeous and extremely well maintained. The staff was courteous, friendly, responsive and accommodating. The rooms were nicely decorated, the beds were comfortable, and the view of the lake was exquisite and breathtaking. We loved the activities at the resort and found that we really didn't need to leave the resort/island. Activities we enjoyed included the talk about the history of the resort, the cooking demonstration, the gym, trivia night, the singer at the firepit, lounging in the outdoor heated pool, to name a few. The food was amazing and delicious, and there are several great options to choose from! I'm thrilled that we are planning to return to the Sagamore for our summer vacation with adult children in a few months.
Be the first to ReplyThe Sagamore is a fantastic hotel to stay at! We have been here 5 times!!!
I wanted to say that I had a blast at The Sagamore hotel. The lady Shellie at the front desk was so nice & accommodating & the waitress at the pool bar & lunch named Eugenia was very sweet and attentive to our needs. She brought the hood out quickly and checked up on us the whole time we were at the pool.
Be the first to ReplyAvoid The Sagamore
The Sagamore was a disappointment. Our accommodations were sufficient but everyday was a chore to get cleaning service. There was a front desk associate that boldly accused me of not notifying the resort of my upcoming stay with my dog. I assured her that I had email communications with a Sagamore associate regarding this matter. I provided his medical records, age, breed, size, name and his therapy certification paperwork. I was told he was not allowed in the main building despite the fact that their policy does allow therapy pets in their main building. The associate assisting me with this matter was Monique White. She was adamant that I intentionally deceived them to avoid the $100.00 /day pet fee. I retrieved my email correspondence and was pleasantly surprised that it was Monique who had received and responded to my email sent early in December. I was directed to the Shift Manager, Connor B., who was very polite and understanding. He graciously offered me a bottle of wine. I declined. He then proceeded to offer me the typical corporate resolution of money.....a whopping $100.00. I paid over $600.00/day to stay there and I will NEVER go back. I will advise my clients traveling with their pets to avoid The Sagamore.
Be the first to ReplyOur first and only time staying here
We had such high hopes for staying at this resort for the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve, but it fell so far short. We booked a lodge room with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen. Our main, issues with the resort came down to cleanliness and general service issues. Prior to arriving it was hard to get in touch with anyone to make a dinner reservation, ask about onsite services or to book babysitting. Once we arrived, in our room we found piles of trash on our deck, including half eaten sandwiches and trash bags, something metal protruding from an outlet, a sink drain not working, spiderwebs in the corners of rooms and standing water in our dishwasher. On top of that, housekeeping never vacuumed our room. I could tell because the crumbs that were dropped were never cleaned up and I had to pick them up each day because it grossed me out. I should have brought my dustbuster!!! One day, around 5:45pm I called asking whether housekeeping was going to come, and I was told they work 9-5 and I must have missed them (we did not) and that if I needed anything I was supposed to call for it. I was asking for fresh towels, more paper towels and the trash to be taken out so it was a preposterous response. One night there was a debacle when we ordered room service that we were going to pick up, and they sent it out with the delivery person whereupon it was lost on the property for 30 min before we went to pickup spot and were able to find our dinners. To add insult to injury, they were all missing half the contents of the dinners so the kids were very disappointed and hungry. The only positives were the rec center, pool, and the superb babysitters that were arranged for us.
Be the first to ReplyAnother fantastic time …. For the 8th year in a row
We had Another fabulous experience this past weekend at the Sagamore. This is our 8th year in a row staying at The Sagamore. We visit this fantastic resort every year with a minimum of five other families. This is an ideal location for groups of friends or a family reunion. The accommodations are wonderful, all of the staff were extremely attentive and the food at the restaurants was delicious. The breakfast buffet is top notch and the spectacular view from the main dinning room compliments the food perfectly. view. There are numerous activities on the grounds and the rec center kept the children and adults entertained for hours. The children ranged in age from 2 - 15 years of age and all of them had a fantastic time. The addition of the outdoor heated pool and igloos this year was particularly enjoyable. We look forward to our visit to The Sagamore every year and we hope to contort his tradition for years to come. I have not had the pleasure of visiting other Opal properties but I will most certainly consider them for future vacations as this resort never disappoints.

This is our 10th time going to the Sagamore Hotel with our friends for a weekend getaway. This place only gets better with each passing year. From the impeccable service and attentiveness of the staff, to the beautiful elegance of this historic hotel, it offers everything you could want. Not only is there an amazing full service spa and gym, both an indoor and outdoor heated pool with heated igloos. It also offers a full recreation center for the children equipped with an indoor baseball, basketball, mini golf and rock climbing wall that provides hours of entertainment. The facility also offers a beautiful full service bar that overlooks the lake and provides beautiful scenery to all. There is a restaurant (opened all year) with a wide menu of Italian inspired dishes. The hotel also offers a breakfast buffet that is outstanding-pancake, waffle and omelet station, seasonal fruit, delicious pastries, bacon, sausage, eggs Benedict to name a few. You will not be disappointed! Book your trip today!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Weekend Getaway with the Family
Anyone with toddlers knows, traveling with them is never easy or relaxing. The staff at the Sagamore however made our weekend getaway with our 2 year old feel like a dream. We actually felt relaxed afterwards (and that NEVER happens when traveling with kids). We go every year and the service is always great but this year they’ve gone above and beyond by adding some additional touches. The rec room, which was amazing to begin with, had additional activities (such as build a bear and movie nights) for the little ones. They also opened up a heated pool outside. I can’t begin to describe how magical it was to be nice and warm in a pool with snow around us, while overlooking the gorgeous lake. This was an unexpected surprise that truly elevated our experience. Our room had some additional upgrades as well, new and improved mattresses and even bigger TVs. For food options, the restaurant serves a breakfast buffet that I look forward to all year long. It is not to be missed. And dinner there is always a great option as well. If you want to venture out a little bit the Sagamore will even provide a shuttle to take you and pick you up from Fredericks. Amenities aside, I can tell you it’s the kindness and helpfulness of the staff that really puts the Sagamore above anywhere else we’ve stayed (and we’ve traveled to many many different places). Thank you to the beautiful Sagamore and the wonderful staff for truly making this a magical experience for our family. If you want a relaxing family getaway, look no further, this place is perfect.
Be the first to ReplyBreathtaking Property & Impeccable Service
Each year we visit The Sagamore with friends. The accommodations are always incredible and everyone is entertained- adults and kids ranging from ages 2-17. The property is breathtaking, the staff and service is impeccable. The kids love the pools (indoor and outdoor) and the REC Room provides hours of entertainment. The restaurant and bar are outstanding. The breakfast buffet is one of the best I’ve ever had. We can’t wait to go back next year!
Be the first to ReplyWinter break
The Sagamore never disappoints. We always have the best time and it’s priced appropriately for what you get. We went for winter break and brought our two young children. The rec center was perfect and our six year old loved the inside mini golf course, the rock climbing wall, the baseball field… the crafting room. We all enjoyed the pools. Room was perfect as always. Nothing out of place. We called for a high chair and it was brought immediately. The valet brought all my luggage to the lodge suite we were in, put my stroller in the back of my car, parked it for me and brought my keys down to me. Mr. browns pub was a crowd pleaser three nights in a row and the servers were great with our kids. Food was delicious. We truly enjoyed it. Can’t wait to go back! See you this summer.
