I give this a 5/5 for ambiance and vibes and a 2/5 for the actual treats. They were cute, but not delicious. Overall 3.5

I will be quick to admit that over the years this has been one of my wife and my favorite restaurant. The food tonight was excellent. Perhaps the best since we've been coming for the past 17 years. We got the coq au vin with mashed potatoes after starting with the Oscetra caviar. Everything was great with a few glaring items: 1. We waited almost thirty minutes for our drinks (martinis) 2. We asked for small plates so we could eat our caviar and escargot and it took 15 minutes to get them. The escargot was cold by then 3. We were out of water for half the dinner 4. We waited for our drinks for at least 10-15 minutes for water h of the next two rounds 5. Server forgot it was my spouses birthday and charged us for dessert 6. There is a tablecloth charge of £7.50. Yes, a tablecloth charge. If it has been there for the past 17 years, I never noticed it. All in all, really disappointed in the service and the lack of care from the manager who we spoke to about it on our way out. Food was great but expected a lot more. Less than exciting return to one of our historic favorites. Hope your service is better than ours.

This place is absolutely beautiful inside, especially during the holidays. We were excited to take our parents here for their first breakfast experience in London. Their service was consistent and welcoming which is always a great thing to experience from any food establishment. Makes the meal that much more engaging and enjoyable. We ordered some teas which is an obvious must for our morning meal. English breakfast was shared since it tends to be a bit overwhelming in size for us 4. We also ordered Eggs Benedict which tasted fabulous. Great thing about traveling with the family is that we can share and sample more without being overstuffed. My family truly enjoyed the meal and experience here. Can't wait to visit again in the future. I would recommend this amazing establishment if you were looking for an elegant morning meal.

Beautiful restaurant and great for a fancy-but-not-stuffy meal. The menu is all full of European classics, with some fancy items (caviar) but also some comforting basics (roast chicken). The food is tasty, and the cocktails are good.

In traveling abroad for the first time, my friends and I were so excited to try the Wolseley. We had heard amazing things about the pancakes, and after a long flight to London, we were so ready to sit down and eat. However, in showing up to the restaurant, we were not greeted too kindly. We were told they could sit us immediately, but the table that we would sit at would be needed at another time for a later reservation, so we would have to be done by that time. We agreed without hesitation. Unfortunately, as time went on, it was becoming clear that nobody was going to serve us. We were placed in an extremely isolated area of the restaurant, and the waiting staff avoided looking at us- we tried flagging down staff, but that was extremely difficult as we were placed at a table alone on the second floor. The expectation of going to a restaurant is that you will be served- additionally, we figured someone would be prompt with us since they needed the table for another later party. It was extremely disappointing to be treated like that. It was an extremely nice establishment, but we didn't feel as though we were being respected as much as the other guests were. We understand that reservations are ideal, but we would've rather been turned away than treated like that. It wasn't a good foot to start our trip on.
Be the first to ReplyAn absolute 5 star and worth the wait.
The service was wonderful, the food delicious. Everything I wanted in breakfast. Enjoy a drink at the bar while you wait.

The Wolseley definitely lives up to its reputation! During a busy holiday week I called a day in advance and was told that regrettably there were no more tables left but I was welcome to walk in - which I did and I was seated immediately. The ambiance is majestic, the classic decor feels grand and oozes luxury. Combine that with the quick and attentive service and you have their recipe for success. The main attraction, the food, is delightful. The English Breakfast is a showcase of classic British cuisine with each element cooked to perfection: the crispy bacon, the fried eggs and black pudding balanced with tasty tomatoes and mushrooms. The tea, as expected, was outstanding. What caught me off guard, however, was the green juice - surprisingly good and a refreshing complement to the meal. Not something I expect on a traditional English menu. This is a must visit if you want a luxurious Full English! Recommended!
Be the first to ReplyA superb experience.
Food and service was excellent. The ambiance also is outstanding.
Be the first to ReplyThis was the most recommended place for afternoon tea from
This was the most recommended place for afternoon tea from our London locals that we know- and it certainly lived up to our expectations for the experience. The Wolseley is known for its afternoon tea and overall environment it eludes. We were greeted by a doorwoman who directed us to the hostess and we were promptly seated for our reservation. The service was quick and for tea was wonderful. Overall the sandwiches and biscuits were good, however, I was not necessarily a fan of the desserts. I will say they are very accommodating with allergies and that was very nice. Afternoon tea per person costs around 44.95 euros and it comes with a tea pot of tea with your choice and a "tower" with hand sandwiches, 3 biscuits, and a variety of pastries/desserts.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful dining room.
Excellent and attentive service! Food was very good. They open until 12am. You can order brunch, a la cart or Prix fixe meals. Salmon Rillettes was delicious, Dorado was perfectly cook. The price is incredibly reasonable.
Be the first to ReplyWe had a lovely time there.
Best scone I ever had! And my personal favorite was the raspberry tart. We had a reservation but still end up waiting a bit. The manager came and apologize, and even gave us free short bread to take home!
Be the first to ReplyElegant, historic, delicious.
What more could one want while dining in London? Perfect spot.

Now this was how an afternoon tea is meant to be!The setting is classically English and the Classic Afternoon Tea lives up to the stunning setting - varied and fresh finger sandwiches (they even offered to refresh the sandwiches when they noticed we'd finished them), delectable sweet treats and scones keep warm undercover with clotted cream and jam.the service couldn't be faulted - it was 5 stars all the way. We'll definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyI cannot recommend The Wolseley in the slightest.
Although, it seems like the go-to spot for your breakfast needs, it is simply not worth it. The service was slow, unaware but less disappointing than the food itself. A must skip.

Came here on our first night in London and it was a fun way to kick off the trip - classic and a lively environment (so great people watching). The building was beautiful and service was impeccable.

The service at this restaurant was amazing! Food came super quick and was unbelievably delicious. A little bit pricey but makes sense for the ambiance and the atmosphere. Definitely recommend if you're in the area!

...Wolseley located on Piccadilly street, right cross street of The RITZ, from outside this establishment looks luxurious and old school. As soon as you walk in, the grandeur of this restaurant appears even more. I went to Wolseley for brunch, jet lagged and very tired right after 10 hours plus flight to London. All I want was a warm meal and strong coffee without knowing Wolseley reputation. They provide relatively big menus that suits all diets. Every thing from classic English fair to modern day breakfast items. I ordered full British with sourdough toast and coffee. Food was cooked perfectly and seasoned, while plated as a culinary statement. My breakfast tasted wonderful and coffee was strong. Service provided in very professional way, somehow classic way of hospitality. I enjoyed interacting with all crew. After finishing my brunch I was a brand new person who already forget about the whole flight and crappy airline food! Prices are on higher side, but that is expected with all the good service you are receiving. Just remember Wolseley is getting packed really quickly, either go early or make reservations. Enjoy!
Be the first to ReplyCame for an early afternoon tea! This place does get packed
Came for an early afternoon tea! This place does get packed so I do recommend make a reservation in advance. I tried the berry fruity tea and my sister had the Jasmine tea. Both really great. Scones, desert and sandwiches were good too. The reason for poor rating is mainly the customer service. We were hardly checked on. We weren't able to drink our second round of tea with the rest of the food items because of how long it took for someone to check on us and when they finally did it was too late. We needed to go to our next destination. We did take our time there so there was plenty of opportunity to have finished everything if again, we had been checked on. A little disappointed as this place came highly recommended and it was on the pricier side. Note: potato was ordered on the side and is not part of the afternoon tea.

Yes, I can tell that we are going to be friends."Jack Johnson It appears to me that closed minded thinking leads to closed minded living, and when you choose (or allow yourself) to do that I'm pretty sure that the missed opportunities in life are gonna begin to pile up on your side of the fence. While waiting excitedly at the airport in San Diego for our flight to London, we were presented with the opportunity to meet (and get to know) @misterfai_scorpio. Am I thankful for the honor!Such a gracious, intelligent person! Why Fai's sister is the family favorite is a mystery to us. Although traveling in the opposite direction that day, Fai took the time to provide us with some great advice about where to experience a proper British high tea...and so here we are! While The Wolseley offers a full menu, we set our sights directly upon their rendition of "high tea" offered each afternoon. I have to admit that I quite enjoyed attempting to appropriately engage in this activity. From learning to navigate the accompanying tea strainer that was provided, to the numerous pictures required to execute a "propa" pinky raising (which prob never happened), this was a great way to spend some time on a gloriously rainy day. A multi-tiered tray of goodies accompanied our tea, but I delayed partaking in the scones. However, when properly adorned with the friendly companions of cream and jam, they were actually excellent and made me begin to question my self-assessment that, "I'm not a bread guy."Although reservations aren't strictly required, I'd recommend that you consider trying to make one. We arrived without the benefit of one, and although we were seated immediately, it felt like we swooped up the last table. This experience is unmistakably pricey, but they replaced any of the trays of food items when requested (including the little sandwiches), and I'd certainly do this again if I have the opportunity.Cheers to you, Fai. Long may our friendship reign! And that's...Henry's Take.#britishhightea#london

'Eggs-elent' eggs Benedict and a cup of coffee that will make any atheist convert to believing all gods are real. Seriously, I happily hummed while eating the eggs Benedict. It is all about the hollandaise sauce, a key component to the Benedict gastronomic parable. There are few restaurants that do a proper concoction and I was so happy to add The Wolseley to that list.Ps: Sorry the 'eggs-elent' play on words. That was a proper dad joke and I could feel your groan through the time m-space continuum.

#FlashbackFridayWho's ready for some fancy English afternoon tea?!?! Finger sandwiches, fruit scones, pastries, cakes, homemade jam, clotted cream, and a variety of tea options.... Hold me closer tiny dancer because this wasn't me. But my wife and daughters have looked forward to this so I was in for the ride. I was not going to miss this as I was here for them and the experience. The Wolseley is located at 160 Picadilly right next to The Ritz. It was a very short walk from the Green Park Underground Station where we came out from. As we made our way to our table, all I could say was the interior looked very elegant and nicely decorated. All four of us had the Classic Afternoon Tea and were served sandwiches, pastries, and scones neatly stacked on a 3-tier plate stand. We had 10+ tea selections to choose from while the finger sandwiches came with curry chicken, cheese, roast beef, salmon, and cucumber. But the scones were the real deal here - warm, moist, buttery, and with a nicely browned top and bottom. They even came covered for a dramatic reveal. Our server was very attentive which contributed to a pleasant stay. We had a refill of everything even the cucumber sammich. That and the salmon were the closest I could get to a sushi roll! Although skeptical at first, it did turn out to be a wonderful time for everyone. Of course I'll do it again if the family wants another go in the future, but I'll be fine having done it once...
Be the first to ReplyThe Wolseley is stunning! Gorgeous interior with servers
The Wolseley is stunning! Gorgeous interior with servers bustling around the expansive restaurant. **This review is only for the afternoon tea.**We had a server who wasn't quite attentive, unfortunately. We sat there for maybe 20 min before she even came to say hello. Then I think we were forgotten. It took about an hour from the time we sat down to finally get our afternoon tea experience going! (Luckily, we had all the time in the world but if you're thinking of squeezing in an afternoon tea between reservations, you may want to reconsider.) They have a lovely selection of teas. I went with the Darjeeling and my bf had a pot of Earl Grey. The Earl Grey, let me tell you, was like a pacifier for the tired soul. The assortment of finger sandwiches were delectable and the perfect amount of savory between each petit four cake. The show-stopper, however, were the fruit scones at the top of the tower! They were warm and moist and perfectly scrumptious even without the clotted cream and jam--but even better with, of course! The glutton inside me wanted to keep eating the scones but my stomach was screaming for mercy, or whatever. If I lived in London, I'd be here daily for their scones without a doubt.
