Great meal, poor end to service
The smell of this restaurant when we kept walking past pulled us in, so in the last night we decided to go. Everything was excellent, food and service I must say until we got the bill. We ordered the bottomless mimosas...only for this not to be reflected on the bill (charged for individual ones) to be told when we questioned this that they no longer offered bottomless, so when we said why was it still on the menu and/or why we were not told at the time of ordering, we were told we didn't order bottomless, when we 100% did!! This really did put a dampener on our last night in Santa Monica and what was a great meal. Tip if you order the bottomless mimosa ask if they are still doing it and check your bill!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Food!
While traveling we usually don't go an Indian Food restaurant because that's what we eat at home, everyday. But for Tumbi we decided to make an exception. It was at a walking distance from the hotel in Santa Monica and the menu looked exciting. We ordered a plate of Panipuri which was served very stylishly on shot glasses. Panipuri tastes different in different parts of India. To get the correct balance of salt, sour, hot spice is difficult. This was perfect. My husband is a picky eater and he praised it too. We also ordered Dosa (Indian crepe made with lentil batter and spicy potato mix fillings) was very good. The 'chutneys' (condiments) were good too. We also ordered a plate of Chana Bhatura (4 pcs of fluffy deep-fried leavened sourdough bread ) and a flavorful chickpea curry. Overall, very tasty food, loved it.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent inventive appetizers, nice waitstaff
The appetizers were inventive and the kheema/lamb appetizer was delicious. The cheese dosas were a huge hit with the kids, and my husband and I are the accompanying chutneys. The waitstaff was lovely, but not incredibly knowledgeable in terms of menu recommendations. But nonetheless very happy with the food and the service!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Location
Located a block from the beach front, this is very easy to find. Came here for an early dinner. Ordered Malai Naan with cheese inside. Also ordered Lamb Rohan Josh in tomato curry and Cheese Dosa. Cheese Dosa is very big and probably should be shared. Lamb Rohan Josh was very tasty and definitely went well with the Belgian Pranqster. Attentive service. Would recommend.

The โsmellโ literally pulled us into the restaurant! It was simply delicious! Food fresh, service friendly and efficient. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyNice little place
Food was very good but for me not spicy enough. Shrimps were excellent. Daal was a bit plain but very tasty. The interior is very nice. Probably best Indian restaurant in Santa Monica
Be the first to ReplyNot a go option for vegetarian Indians
We ordered alloo Gobi and Dal , it no where matched the real indian vegetarian cuisine, on top of it the quantity being served there for the price match is absolutely over priced I would never prefer this restaurant again
Be the first to ReplyAsk for Spicy!
Excellent Indian cuisine. We were almost put off by some previous TripAdvisor reviews about the size of the portions and the blandness of the food. Iโm glad we werenโt! We asked for the food to be spicy and we certainly got what we asked for! Delicious, highly spiced Indian food - just as we like it - with good sized servings. There is also the added bonus of a range of decent craft beers. And the service here is excellent!
Be the first to ReplyRecommended for vegetarian food near the Santa Monica pier!
This place if located very close to the pier , right on the ocean main road. Very close walking proximity to Third Street Promenade. I ate twice - once i ordered Dosa - Dosa was crisp and side dishes were good too. The second time i ordered Dal rice which was good. Recommended for vegetarian food!
