Superb food, top quality restaurant with rooms
The food here is amazing.
We were two families with children plus grandparents staying for a weekend.
The house and rooms are traditional with loads of character, accommodation is very comfortable but not spacious (though we had one of the biggest beds weโve ever slept in). The grounds are attractive and well-kept. The Bala area is stunning.
We had an evening taster menu which was an extremely high standard, michelin star quality food and service.
There wasnโt much variety (or greenery) on the childrenโs menu, but the fish fingers and chips went down very well.
The breakfasts here are brilliant. Everything is fresh local produce, and thereโs a very good range of options on the menu.
This is as good a restaurant-with-rooms as youโll find anywhere.
Pleasant return visit
Our first visit in a while and pleased to see the place back in operation. On the face of it little has changed โ very similar surroundings, relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff - but like many hotels there is a shortage of experienced staff and this was evident during our visit but hopefully that will improve with time. I particularly liked the dining room - nice dรฉcor, well spaced tables and pleasant atmosphere. Great to see such an extensive a la carte menu given the trend towards tasting only menus. Food quality ranged from good to very good but personally we thought portion sizes were too big and the duck main unbalanced with too much meat. Breakfast was excellent. I wish the owners all the best in re-establishing the business and hope to return in the near future.

We have repeatedly returned here for notable occasions. We did so again on Valentineโs day, and had one of our best meals ever here. It is beyond me that the michelin star has not been restored; the cooking here is consistently better than other starred establishments, and the wine list is first class.

Tyddyn Llan truly deliver on all aspects of hospitality. Most importantly, the food is outstanding. Bryan Webb is definitely a master of his craft. We are already looking forward to going back there..

Can't believe this hotel is still living off its michelin star, which has been taken away few years ago. I have stayed here twice, lovely food, but nothing outstanding. Dark dingy rooms. How can they justify the Xmas prices for 2021,appalling. So many better eateries in Wales, this one is past its sell by date.

Superb dinner; superb service; superb ambience! One of our party is GF which was referenced by staff who all knew details of menu. Even bringing GF toast in the morning. The menu was very wide and varied indeed. A lot for the kitchen to offer in a relatively small, cosy establishment. Iโd be happy with fewer options. As the quality is quite outstanding.
It is indeed an oasis of quiet relaxation. Perfect perception and attention to detail by all the staff, even in these difficult times. Everyone was cheerful and positive.
A lovely pre- Christmas sojourn which all five of us thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks to Bryan, Susan and everyone on the team.
Relaxed excellence
From arrival to departure the service was at the uppermost levels with razor sharp perception by all the team, quite extraordinary
Quiet immersion in the lounge to enjoy pre drinks and choose from the menu, food was superlative.
Top notch!
Tastefully decorated room. Full amenities. Very comfortable bed. Great service. Breakfast and dinner were excellent. Compliment to the chef! Beautiful scenery on the way. You deserve 5 star! Highly recommended. We will definitely be back.

I don't remember what serendipity led me to discover this oasis of gentility many years ago now, but my word I'm so glad that I did. Many visits later including one to get married, my wife and I had the great pleasure this year of introducing some dear friends to Tyddyn Llan. Our first visit with them was for lunch which was a great success and thus encouraged we returned recently to celebrate our wedding anniversary with those same friends and stay for two nights. Having read some of the recent reviews more superlatives from me seem unnecessary but truly it is a gem. We know that things have been difficult during the last two years of lockdown and the fact that this oasis remains as good as ever is testament to the leadership, stamina, and courage of owners Bryan and Susan and of course their team. There is nothing pretentious about Tyddyn Llan they just manage to get all the basic elements exactly right. Long may this quintessential example of a British country house remain in these turbulent times in which we live.
Be the first to ReplyRelaxed, informal elegance complemented by fabulous staff and memorable food.
Having lunched at Tyddyn Lan in July, we had the opportunity to celebrate the wedding anniversary of our friends' at the same venue at which they wed 8 years previously.
Tyddyn Lan's charm is multi-faceted - the drive through Denbighshire countryside to the gates of the property sets a tone of relaxed anticipation and arrival through the narrow gate pillars provides a vista of Tyddyn Lan itself. The building nestles into an oasis cut into the wooded surrounds and is completely charming.
The welcome provided by every single member of staff warms the heart and the accommodation - Room 1 in our case - is the epitome of charm from an elegant and bygone age.
The bed is supremely comfortable and the shower is powerful enough to blow any cobwebs away that may have the temerity to persist after a good night's sleep.
Breakfast will appeal to every palate and is thoughtfully and very personably served. The Dinner Menu is equally appealing and relies on local produce that Brian Webb crafts into truly elegant and flavoursome dishes.
Susan Webb manages FoH with great charm and is supported by Nadia as Restaurant Manager. It would be remiss of me not to mention the contribution of Fay, Carlos and Byron - amongst others - who all contributed to the unqulaified enjoyment that we experienced at Tyddyn Lan.
Any establishment - especially a Restaurant with Rooms - is the sum of its parts. Tyddyn Lan is the most excellent sum of location, ambience, accommodation, professional and charming staff and dining.
We cannot wait to return to this jewel in Denbighshire's crown ;-)
Thank you all!!!!!!!!
