So glad I finally got to try this place! A perfect romantic evening for my boyfriend and I full of delicious food! Highly recommend the potatoes and Brussels!
Be the first to ReplyBuzzy business lunch.
Bright light dining room that felt very California. Service and flavors were fair. Nothing to actually go out of your way for but great option if you're in the area.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful modern decor and delicious food.
My only complaint is this steak and eggs was an extremely small portion for the price.
Be the first to ReplyFood was amazing.
Don't even know what my fav dish was. Everything was fabulous. Service excellent Great decor
Be the first to ReplyWowsa I haven't had such a great meal in a very long time.
The service, the food, the wine... all impeccable. Delicious

I thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Upland, where the exquisite decor immediately captivated us upon arrival, setting the stage for a truly inviting atmosphere. The service throughout our meal was exceptional, contributing to an overwhelmingly positive impression. Choosing the cheeseburger turned out to be a solid decision. This positive experience has undoubtedly left me enthusiastic about returning to Upland and delving into a broader array of their dishes.

Made reservations for brunch on Saturday and we really enjoyed our meal! There were so many things on the menu we wanted to try but we started with the breakfast pizza and then i got the eggs benedict and my husband the upland cheeseburger. The breakfast pizza was delicious. It had bacon, sausage, cheddar and broccoli. It had a really great fluffy crust. I also had the passionfruit iced tea which was delicious and not too sweet. My eggs benedict were good but the ham was very salty and overpowered the taste of the hollandaise. The potatoes were a little bland and the arugula salad seemed too salty and had too much lemon. Overall the dish itself had potential, the flavors just need some balancing. My husbands cheeseburger however was absolutely delicious. It was juicy without being messy, the avocado was fresh and creamy, and the peppers added a nice zest. Service was a little slow and our waiter seemed to be running around a lot and never checked on us, but overall we would go back for the food and definitely recommend.

They were very accommodating with our reservation time as we were traveling from out of town. The pizza is thin crust, very tasty. Service was spot on and we loved our table. Thank you for the wonderful additions and recommendations.
Be the first to ReplyThe service here is the best part.
Such wonderful staff and so accommodating and on top of their game. The food is wonderful too! The chicken is absolutely delicious and the beef tartare is delicious. Great night and will absolutely come again
Be the first to ReplyThe food was good, but the sommelier was excellent.
She came over to our table and gave the perfect recommendation for our selection of apps based over our preference in a medium to full body red wine. Would certainly return for the fried artichoke appetizer and service.

I walked in Saturday night without a reservation and was able to sit at the bar. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. Steven Starr is my absolute favorite restauranteur and I love all of his establishments. I can't recommend the Bianca Pizza and Little Gem Salad enough!
Be the first to ReplyMy friends and I came here without a reservation.
We were able to be seated in one of their outdoor tables that had a heat lamp.I got the Eggs in Hell ($19), which was essentially a shashouka. It was actually pretty spicy! It's not the best shashouka I've had, as it could have been more flavorful. I also got a latte ($7), which they made with simple syrup. For the table, we shared a Margherita pizza ($22) and fries ($11). The pizza was really good and I loved the Asiago crust. The fries were thin and crispy. For some reason, they gave us a complimentary side salad and egg/bacon breakfast sandwich, which came on a biscuit. The sandwich was super yummy!Service was great! Our waiters constantly filled our water and I felt like they still gave us attention even though we were seated outside. I wish we sat inside because it is very pretty and vibey!
Be the first to ReplyI went for dinner with my husband and friend.
The food wasn't good and the service wasn't good. The ambiance is great! It was loud in there which isn't that big of a deal, but the server was literally whispering. It was very frustrating having to keep asking her to repeat herself and like kind of stand up to put my ear to her basically. It's very beautiful inside, though! Instagram worthy interior and food presentation, just not tasty. Very small portions, too. I got the lobster cavatelli which was decent. My husband got tuna crudo. He said it was too much jalapeño and not enough tuna. My friend liked his cauliflower! We all shared the sausage and kale pizza, I didn't like it at all. My husband and friend felt it was good enough. Personally, I would just pick a different place to eat. I do not recommend. I'm so glad my friend paid for the meal. I would've been really irritated paying for that.

I walked in for a late Saturday brunch with a friend without a reservation and we were able to get seats at the bar, where they still serve the full lunch menu. Decor is stylish, upscale, and chic, as you would expect from Starr restaurants (owner of Buddakan, Electric Lemon, Pastis, etc.) Even at the bar, service was friendly and attentive. The salmon benedict was well-executed with a generous portion of smoked salmon, nothing remarkable though. The party next to us ordered the smoked salmon pizza which looked amazing and huge -- I will probably order that next time! Overall, a consistent and pleasant New York brunch experience.

Home of Obama's Favorite Burger, Upland Has Lost Its EdgeWhen Upland first opened in 2014, it was what New York City needed--a bright, airy, high-ceiling restaurant that could absorb the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. And on top of that, serve delicious Californian fare that reminds us to incorporate more of that west coast ethos into our lives. That ethos tells us fresh is always best and everything is better with avocado.Once home to President Obama's favorite burger, Upland has since become complacent. In many dimensions, it is good. But in many dimensions, it falls marginally--but painfully--short of being great. The tuna crudo was served with serrano peppers, avocado, cucumber, and a healthy topping of seaweed. The textural nuances were right, but the dish ultimately lacked depth. The fattiness and density of the tuna and avocado desperately needed a dose of acidity to cut through. A healthy squeeze of lime would have elevated this dish immensely. If only the tuna crudo could have borrowed from the flavor bomb that was the burrata. Served with marinated leeks and pickled shallots, the dish was almost trying to do too much. Burrata has the power to stand firmly on its own. Its milky, buttery flavor is delicate yet deceptively addictive. Upland's enhancements took away the charming subtlety that burrata lovers crave and ultimately detracted. The pappardelle was cooked well. The broad pasta was elevated by a spicy sausage ragu with kale. The kale was undoubtedly the star of this dish. Its sweet and slightly bitter notes balanced the richness that one looks for in a good sausage ragu. While this ragu delivered on that dimension, it needed zing. Perhaps a little extra garlic or a zesty tomato paste would have done the trick. The desserts were the most disappointing part of the meal. The chocolate budino was covered with a thick layer of what tasted like $5, grocery-store raspberry jam. (Perhaps that's being unfair to $5, grocery-store raspberry jam.) Unfortunately, the jam dominated what should have been a light, yet decadent, dish. Upland's interpretation left a lot to be desired. The apple pie sundae was better, but only because it was mostly just a scoop of vanilla ice cream--and who doesn't love that? The almond granola was fine but a far cry from excellent. One doesn't come to Upland expecting the granola to taste like Eleven Madison Park's claim to fame (EMP's hefty price tag is worth it just for this jar of granola at the end, but we'll leave that discussion for another day), but it also shouldn't taste like it came out of a bag from my pantry. The most underwhelming part was the caramelized apple at the bottom, which would have benefitted from a large sprinkle of cinnamon during the cooking process. When Upland first opened, I loved it. As I've returned over the last few years, I've wanted to love it. But Upland is a good reminder that if we fail to strive for continuous improvement, we ultimately become subpar. Would I go to Upland again? Yes. Would I ever passionately recommend Upland to a friend who asks? No. And that lack of passion pretty much sums up the food at Upland.

It's pricey, but the fact that it's always packed tells you what you need to know. People love this place. The dining room is very well appointed and beautifully lit: think romantic, or a fun night out with friends. The bar is always well stocked and the bartenders are super friendly, just like the wait staff. Their little gem salad is so delicious. Their apps are great. Try the short ribs for 2. They are melt-I -your-mouth delicious. You're going to love Upland... but make a reservation!

Took my gf here for Valentines and it was a good place to try. The food was decent, not the best but definitely still better than a lot of places. My gf said the desert was amazing however. The place also looked amazing as well. Even though it was extremely busy, it gave off a calmer vibe than most restaurants surprisingly. However, what stood out the most was Joel's service. He always came back to check on us and make sure that we were in the know about what we were ordering and he was a fun server overall. Would come back.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent chicken dish ($32).
A ton of protein, moist, and delicious mushroom.Ambiance is amazing here. The lighting is spectacular, it's clean, and the service is top notch.Perfect spot for drinks, a casual meal, or business/date. Espresso shot is $7.

A huge fan of their burger, but unfortunately they only serve it for lunch and brunch. This is one of my favorite places for brunch, the atmosphere has a nice and warm vibe, not too crowded and never too loud. Service is always friendly and efficient, and the food is great! Love the pancakes, the burger, and there's a nice pasta option for the kids as well. Always a pleaser when I bring visitors.

Good appetizers - would highly recommend the tuna and steak tartar dishes. Would not recommend the short rib as it was overly seasoned. Great environment and service!
Be the first to ReplyReally loved this place- nice ambiance and great food.
The pizza was incredible- thing crust and amazing. The salad was great and plenty big! We had a very cute corner booth to ourselves. My only complaint was the bad served pretty small drinks. My Marjorita was half full with ice. Taste was great but for $20 a cocktail, I wanted more. Will definitely visit again!
Be the first to Replycame for brunch.
we ordered -cheeseburger (not the best burger i've ever had but had to try the obama order obviously)-sausage kale pizza (i found this a little dry and scooped some burrata on it)-burrata app (amazing! tart and slightly sweet w the roasted onions/shallots on top)-affogato (so simple and yet so delicious. needed this!)will be back. dining atmosphere was classy, airy, and thoughtfully decorated. space is bigger than i assumed. ease of reservation online! it's a yes for me dawgggg
Be the first to ReplyI had two cocktails and the nudja pizza.
Great flavor, great dough. Drinks were good. The bartender was great. This is a very busy place and for good reasonSorry for the bad pic!
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful restaurant, and really large inside.
We sat at the bar and had brunch. The omelette was well cooked and not too big. The crispy potatoes were great, but a bit overpriced. The bar staff were on top of it all and really friendly.

Sunday Brunch! Lovely place to go with friends, family and kids. Service was immaculate, friendly and very patient with my friends child. The food was amazing and the drinks as well. Probably one of the best French fries I have tried (perfect salty) we order a few things from the menu. Cacio E Pepe, Burrata, Eggs in Hell, Skirt Steak, jalapeño biscuit sandwich - all servings are great, some do not have veggies or carbs, so you may need to order that separate. We also ordered pancakes which were the apple pancakes - delicious! Will definitely go back to eat brunch there!
