Service: horrific. Please note that my wife and I looked forward to dining at the Vestry, a one-star Michelin restaurant. We stayed at the Dominick, were dressed appropriately and had a good attitude. Also, outside of our server, everyone else at the restaurant were pleasant and professional. We were seated and waited 10 minutes for the server to come to the table. He already looked annoyed, as if we represented additional work for him. All he said was 'Are you ready to order'? We ordered cocktails. All food and drinks were delivered by someone else. After 20 minutes, the server returned with 'Are you ready to order"? No pleasantries, no specials, no recommendations, just an obvious bad attitude. The entrees were delivered after another 20 minutes and were not hot. I'm okay if one entrée is cold, but in this case, both were not hot. I think it's reasonable to request reheating cold food, especially $100+ worth of cold food. We asked to see the server. 10 minutes later, the server came to the table, with a 'what's the problem now' look on his face. We told him the food was cold. He proceeded to feel the underside of the dishes and pronounced - 'they are still hot'. We disagreed and asked him to have them reheated. He grabbed the plates and stormed off.We did not see the server again, until we walked out of the restaurant. My wife walking ahead of me, walked pass the server, who physically bumped into her (leaving a bruise on her arm). I walked up to this confrontation with the server yelling - 'She assaulted me!'. I said - are you nuts? A 130-pound woman in her 60's assaulted you? Management came and escorted the angry server away. I will give credit to the management as they handled this well. They comped us the cost of the entrees and offered to buy us desert/drinks, which we refused. Hotel security contacted us and said they would follow up with an investigation - even though they are not directly affiliated with the Vestry. The primary issue is that this server has no business working at a one-star Michelin restaurant. Reading through previous reviews, there are recurring complaints regarding terrible service - I assume our server was the primary cause. This is a management issue that they let this go on. Why let an employee with obvious anger issues and zero people skills continue to work for and represent your establishment. I don't know the answer. Maybe it's a union issue. Meanwhile I would recommend avoiding this restaurant at all costs, until they get their act together.
