Came with a friend on Friday night for their Restaurant Week deal. Everything was really delicious and the staff were attentive. Chic indoors and outdoors seating.

Restaurant week menu was fun, flavorful and filling! Cocktail pairing was tasty and a good deal.

I'm not sure when all the pseudo critics decided to issue weird Yelp reviews. I have a feeling the "Elite 24" people are really just dumping on here for their own benefit. But maybe I should thank them for making this place still accessible to locals like me. This place is an upscale neighborhood cocktail bar that offers a few well done dishes, gourmet takes on bar food. It is priced accordingly like a cocktail lounge, not a dive bar. It is not an upscale restaurant. It is a place to come with friends, have an excellent cocktail or 2, enjoy good food and the company you are with if you can manage to put your phone down. The burger is one of the best in SF if you are a fan of thicker burgers where they ask how you want it done, not the current crispy fried smashburger trend. And they finally have brought the friend chicken back after an absence. This is also outrstanding, and is my favorite friend chicken in the City, if not anywhere. It's definitely better than the neighboring place 2 blocks away (which I also frequent and I am not trying to bad mouth) that makes the Yelp list. So please feel free to try it yourself. A great bar for higher end drink and comfort food.
Be the first to ReplyVery delicious food.
Nice ambiance. They have a prix fixe with cocktail or wine pairing. Excellent choices. Each dish had something special tasting about it. Chilled asparagus, fried chicken & Mac & Cheese, market salad, cheese burger. Great service as well. Highly recommend.

The bacon burger and fried chicken are better than average and have a bit of seasoning. I'm impressed. Good bartenders, great food, and nice environment. Thumbs up in my book.

3.5 stars. Service was excellent but some of the dishes had some room for improvement. First, I should start off by saying they may have been short staffed that night. My friend noticed only one bartender, one waitress, and one chef. It wasn't packed inside, but still enough to keep them busy. And who knows if they were doing online orders so that is a possible factor. For myself, I ordered the mac and cheese with broccoli and the barbecue oysters. The portion is a good size for dinner for one person and I could only eat half. They used pasta shells, which caught all that cheesy goodness. The breadcrumbs and broccoli gave it a nice crunch. I'm glad they used broccoli because it seems everyone uses cauliflower. It's nice to see a little greenery. The barbecue oysters tasted delicious. I would drink that chipotle and butter sauce if I could. It had a good kick and the butter was light. I felt the oysters were still on the rawer side, which I was fine with because I like oysters regardless. I think the acidity from the chipotle/butter sauce compliments the texture, like the way lime juice can cook raw fish. But I think barbecuing the oysters all the way to give them a meatier texture would've really made the dish outstanding. I also got to try one of their deviled eggs with fried leeks. That was a mighty tasty egg! It had the classic flavors and the fried leeks have it a good crunch. My friend and I always get dessert and the big ass cookie caught my eye. But for $10, I was expecting bigger and chewier. The cookie was very hard and I felt the size was standard of one you'd get at Hot Cookie. The flavor was good though. It had large chocolate chunks and sea salt flakes. The texture let it down. I would say this is a cozy neighborhood bar. The space is kinda tight at the entrance, but there's more room once you're seated at the sides of the restaurant. I used to live two blocks away before Violet's took the space and I can see myself coming here for a drink with those deviled eggs. I live farther out now, but I would come back to try their risotto when it's back on the menu. They offer a $35 3-course pre fixe menu, which I think is a good deal. I feel like I only see that price during restaurant week. So if you've been curious about Violet's, you should check them out. A table nearby ordered fried chicken with mac and cheese, which was humongous and worth trying.

We took the kids; the food and ambiance was enjoyed by all! Please try everything and pair it with an amazing crafts cocktail.

I adore this restaurant! The cocktails and Price Fixe menu are what make this my favorite place in San Francisco the regular menu is wonderful too. Everything is seasonal and inventive. The crispy tom ka gai style chicken is the best thing I ever tasted in my life!! I dream of it all the time.
Be the first to ReplyGreat service from the waitress and bartender.
Delicious food with nice servings. I saw a couple of tables just hanging out long after they've finished their food, so I'm not sure if that's a welcomed thing to do here. Had a nice time with the buzzing atmosphere.

Be the first to ReplyVisited this past weekend, and thought the place was lovely.
A small space with indoor and outdoor seating, simple and modern setting. The service was excellent, the server even asking about dietary restrictions and allergies when we placed our order, and the wait times were reasonable. We enjoyed our cocktails, the ultraviolet and crossover old fashioned, which both had a nice blend of flavors to please our palates. From the dinner menu, I loved the fried chicken with mac n cheese, a little different than usual with broccoli mixed in with the side dish, but it was good. The chicken was delicious, oddly shaped like balls, but nicely seasoned and juicy inside, one with white meat and two pieces with dark meat. With the pre fixe meal, we had the market salad which came with unique dressings we got on the side, creamy risotto with yummy wild mushrooms, and the big ass chocolate chip cookie for dessert, surprisingly our least favorite item, nice and chocolatey, thick with layers, but a bit hard in consistency and the overall flavor not as appealing, definitely not ten dollars worth. Prices are a little high for what you get here, but it's still a cute and cozy date night spot serving decent food and drinks. We also had no problem finding free street parking a block away on a Saturday evening, but perhaps we just got lucky.

This is the perfect spot for a casual romantic evening or catching up with friends over cocktails. The menu always has great options and changes regularly. The fried chicken is a go to as well as any toast snack. Check out their happy hour!
Be the first to ReplyThe upside was the kind host and cool setting.
Sadly, our server was a bit flippant about a garlic dietary limit and truly ever dish had way too much garlic. The only dish without it was the burger which, as other reviews mention, was pretty bland.I pulled a giant hunk of garlic out of my pasta dish and even those who can have garlic felt like it was overkill and comparable amount to what you'd find at The Stinking Rose. For the price point, it felt like an overall bad experience.
Be the first to ReplyCocktails here are good but food is pricy for what it is.
The bartender working tonight seemed somewhat rude and wasn't super helpful to a couple nearby when they asked about dietary options. He'd also just walk away while u were still talking. I get that it was a busy night but still

Tried this place out on a week night and was able to be seated immediately--it gives off trendy SF vibes! (Wait staff were friendly)Ordered the Family Business and Bird of Beauty which both tasted as good as it looked. The Ballpark fries were such a comfort food starter and honestly stole the show food-wise. For entrees, I had the pan seared scallops and shrimp and my partner ordered the burger. I was a bummed about how some of the flavors of the couscous overpowered the whole meal, but the seafood itself was great. The burger, nothing to write home about. Lastly, the cookies were meh. Hoping if I visit again the experience is better!
Be the first to ReplyGood food and great service.
The bar tender was very attentive but not overbearing.Had the burger and broccoli two ways as an appetizer. Would recommend both! The vibe is low key and comfortable.

This place is cool, without reservation, you can get a spot at the bar.The broccoli two ways was pretty good!! You don't usually expect a broccoli dish to taste this good .Loved that the fries were crispy outside and soft inside (I love that).Def coming back for a good burger again soon!
Be the first to ReplyTerribly overpriced and questionable food.
Paid $16 for a plate of kettle chips (easily from the store) and cold Brussels sprout dip in a 4inch ramekin. Everything we ordered tasted weird, and walked away feeling completely ripped off. Great cocktails though.

Be the first to ReplyEclectic menu that changes pretty regularly - hard to know
Eclectic menu that changes pretty regularly - hard to know what to expect aside from fried chicken and a burger -- both solid, delicious options. I dined here with two friends who both enjoyed g&t's while I tried both of the cocktails w/ mezcal -- both delicious, but I think I liked the one with pineapple best We shared the Korean eggplant and a salad - both fair portion and delicious flavor. The eggplant preparation was not what we were expecting and were all pleasantly surprised. I had the burger and it was pretty average, not bad, also not remarkable in a must-have-again-very-soon typa way (I love a gooood burger). My friends shared a dish, but I'm drawing a blank on what it was - I do remember they did enjoy it though. A table near us had the fried chicken and wow did it smell tasty - I'm trying to avoid gluten so it wasn't in the cards for me. Great spot for date, friends, family. Sorta seems like a slightly fancy neighborhood joint. Lucky for me, it's my friends' 'hood and we'll definitely be back!

Their host is tremendous, and then their service is from there is fairly decent. I like the location, and the parking can be hit-or-miss, but still better than other neighborhoods in the City. Nice vibe, a little loud, but also a lot of flies inside. The fried elephant was too overpowering; it had a nice texture, but it was drowned in sauce. The salad was the best thing we ordered, however, if the salad is best thing, that's a bit of a bad sign for the other dishes. The scallops and shrimp had a nice cook, however, the acid is the sauce was way too much and also too overpowering, lacking balance. The scallops were on the small side. Just alright; could be better, but the service helped.
Be the first to ReplyMediocre at best.
Small portions for the price (even for SF). The gnocchi was inedible.

The precedent has been set, and Violet's now holds the position of first among equals with its alluring menu of raw-bar treasures, hefty entrรฉes, and drinks. It is perfect for a romantic night since it is decorated in shades of blue and green and is furnished with a wraparound walnut bar. The ambiance is the same as that of its close sibling, Fiorella, which makes it vibrant and cozy. Favorites on the menu include fresh, chilled, and soft lobster served with Meyer lemon-mayonnaise; barbecue-glazed meatloaf served with mashed potatoes; and sticky toffee-carrot cake with good cause. It would be a shame to miss out on the skillfully created drinks, such as the incredibly Instagrammable Violet Skies, which are flavored with strawberry brandy, mezcal, and crรจme de violette.
