I've had Yasu bookmarked for a while and finally got to try this place! Surprisingly, there's plenty of street parking nearby, so I had no issues finding a spot. The restaurant is clean and cozy. Dinner promptly started around 6pm. The 17-course omakase was absolutely amazing for a price tag of $195/person (not including the mandatory 18% service charge and tax). Most, if not all, the fish and ingredients were flown straight from Japan. Everything tasted so fresh and delicious! My favorites were the shirako and monkfish liver nigiri since these are delicacies that you don't see often in omakase menus in the US! I was so excited to see such variety thru out the meal. Overall, I had a blast at Yasu and thought that it was a 2-hour well spent. My belly was satisfied and I didn't feel the discomfort of being ridiculously full.

Came on a Saturday night, was sat at 1 of the 2 tables behind the bar itself. The fish itself was ok, nothing exceptional especially for the steep price. There was quite a long wait between each individual dish around 15-20 minutes, so we ended up being there for over 2 hours. Would not recommend coming here super hungry otherwise you will be waiting and waiting and likely not leaving full/satiated. There was only 1 server for the entire restaurant while we were there, he was quite busy. One of the last of fish pieces was filled entirely with small bones (my boyfriend's piece was not though), which ended the meal on a poor note for me.
Be the first to ReplyLove their nigiri, chef is really nice and welcoming.
Waitress constantly adding green tea for everyone. I will definitely be back.

WOW. This has to be the best omakase place in Los Angeles. WOW. My husband and I are from NYC and we love omakase. We tried a few similarly priced places, but none of them were places we would return to... except Yasu. Yasu is priced extremely well for the quality of their ingredients, the rarity of the fish flown in from Japan, and the incredible service. You're served piece by piece at the sushi bar, and Chef Yasu explains each piece for you. There are some truly beautiful pieces that also taste delicious (see photos). We also had a langoustine!!! Such a delicacy and served beautifully. I'm sad we didn't come to Yasu on the earlier part of our trip so that we could go again. We came to Yasu at the end of our trip. We'll definitely be back. You definitely will not regret coming here. You'll probably be wondering when you can come again. UPDATE - just read someone's review about bad service. The service from Chef Yasu was INCREDIBLE. He was always making sure we were taken care of. In terms of the server, she seemed a bit inexperienced but she definitely did try. Chef Yasu made sure everything was very well taken care of though!

Service was bad, compared to other omakase experiences I've had before. Fish selections were hit and miss too. But besides food, service was so bad that I don't remember the food. Servers are very inexperienced, and has no clue. I would not go back/recommend

Came here for dinner on Thursday night with a friend for a celebration with an 8:30pm reservation and we had an amazing omakase experience here. Chef Yasu was serving us and we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time so we had the full attention of the staff! All of the fish we had was of high quality and it was great being able to see the chef prepare the sushi in front of us as we were waiting and eating. You get to experience a wide variety of fish and some which you may have not had before! Several favorites of mine throughout the whole meal were the monkfish liver, tamago, & scallop! I would recommend coming to Yasu for any special occasion and you will get to eat some amazing sushi here. The overall ambience was fancy but also welcoming and comfortable. It's more suited for smaller groups so I recommend your max party size be around 3-4 people. The pricing for the 17 course omakase menu we had was quite reasonable with picing at $195 per person with + 18% service fee and after tax it came out to be around $250 per person! The value and service you get here is phenomenal and it's one of the better priced options for omakase in LA.

2 people serving 12 guests. You have 1 piece of sushi every 15 minutes and it is not even tasty. Staff is not friendly, the person who seated us had no idea about the concept of the restaurant when I asked him. The 2 people cooking are very slow and it's not worth it.

We visited Yasu for our 5th wedding anniversary and the whole experience was beyond wonderful! Chef Yasu prepared our 17 course omakase with delicacy in every bite.. our absolute favorite was the monk fish liver, it was soft like tofu and the freshness to die for. Chef Yasu was also very funny and humble man, he had some inside jokes to share which made the experience even more amazing. Thank you for a memorable meal and unforgettable night!

Chef Yasu takes you on an epic omakase! We came here for a birthday celebration and we enjoyed every bite. The fish is fresh and the cuts were super big! The wasabi and the finer was something else! I loved it to the point where I asked for extra. It's fresh wasabi! Service by Chef Yasu and his staff are spectacular. You do need reservation for the special omakase but for other tables you can do walk in. Quiet and personal ambiance!

Incredibly thoughtful presentation of fresh and delightful selections of fish. Exactly the omakase I was looking for on our visit to LA.
Be the first to ReplyHad an amazing experience celebrating a birthday.
Very intimate vibe and the fish quality was excellent.

Everything was delicious. The akamutsu/nodoguro was probably my favorite piece.

Came here for my friends birthday and tried the omakase, and we had a delicious experience. The service was great, and the head sushi chef was fun on top of being very skilled. We had octopus that tasted so tender, almost soft like fish, one of the top 3 monkfish liver I've ever tried, and the sweetest crab meat dipped in broth. The place was upscale yet had a great vibe, especially with sake cups bigger than my palm. Would definitely go back again just to get more monkfish liver!

dined at Yasu Sushi for a birthday and was blown away by the quality of the food. The sushi was fresh and expertly prepared, with a perfect balance of flavors in each bite. The atmosphere was cozy and intimate, making for a great dining experience. I highly recommend Yasu Sushi for anyone looking for excellent sushi
Be the first to ReplyI was Yelping sushi omakase places for the past two days.
It's so hard finding a reasonable one for the price and experience. I ended up picking this place because the price wasn't crazy expensive ($195) per person for a 17 course omakase and i also got to reserve sitting at the sushi bar in advanced ! I recommend sitting in the corner near the wall because you don't have to be next to other people hehe (: and you get a better view of the show ! Me and my boyfriend had an amazing time, they even sang him happy birthday at the end of our meal so thoughtful of them. It's a really special experience watching how they make every piece of sushi ! I felt like I was watching a sushi documentary the sushi was delicious you won't be disappointed! You will be full enough to the point where you don't feel fat, you feel light after eating here. The quality of the fish is amazing. They put so much care and effort into each bite! The service was perfect And the sushi chef was so funny, friendly, and informative about each fish we were eating (: The ambiance was nice, it's an Intimate setting for a dinner date!! Loved every minute of it! You have to find street parking though (:The bill for two people came out to ($503) The tip is included automatically hehe For a special occasion this is a nice option! Worth the money and fun experience!(: highly recommend coming hereThe food pictures speak for itself everything we were served
Be the first to ReplyWe were sitting at the bar because we didn't want to wait.
The service was wonderful.. the texture and flavor of the sushi was just perfect. Will come back for sure.
Be the first to ReplyFirst time trying this place for a Birthday celebration.
booked ahead of time (14 day policy reservation from Resy). They have two selections for their dining reservation: 6:00 or 8:30 PM.They only use a single menu, which is a 17 course Omakase dining experience.I read other reviews of people saying the dining experience is very slow. However, our dining experience was of good pace. The chef handed each course at a perfect time; not too slow, and not too fast. We added a couple of Sake drinks to go along with our dinner. I enjoyed every single course, except the Shirako sushi (milt) from the fish. It's the course that looks like a brain. Overall experience was good, however, it didn't blow my mind away. I was actually expecting each course to blow our mind. They didn't have a Sweet Shrimp, which is a staple dish. Not sure if we will be back. The location is in Beverly Hills, however, it's in the "not so good" area of BH. Don't worry about parking, since you can easily park on the residential streets behind the main street.

Epic dinner! Really enjoyed everything, particular the monkfish liver and the hotpot snow crab! Everything was really fresh and we opted for the sake pairing which I highly recommend, as the chef pairs each sake with each segment of the meal. Will definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyOooohhh this place is phenomenal.
Chef Yasu lets the expertly curated fish speak for itself and every bite was slap-your-knee delicious. The atmosphere was like being in a dream, a bit surreal since there's only a few seats available each omakase. Loved the ceramics used and the service was also great. You can tell the chefs bring their A-game every night, and I loved talking to them. Extremely kind and thoughtful people here, definitely bring a date, family member or a friend you want to share a memorable experience with.

My husband and I came here for a celebratory dinner on a Saturday night. I was able to get a reservation for this place somewhat last-minute (the day before). Although Yasu is technically in Beverly Hills, it is not in the nice part of Beverly Hills. There is a lot of paid street parking near the restaurant. The restaurant is small, with a bar counter and some tables. When we came, we were seated immediately. The service was nice. They didn't check our vaccination cards. Yasu only has a 18-course omakase option for $180. The first course was a sashimi course, that I didn't like. Everything else was good, and I liked that the chef would show us the fish first before he cut and served it. They also had shirako, a delicacy of cod fish sperm which I'd had in Japan, but never eaten in the U.S. I appreciated this unique offering. While we had a good dinner, I do think there are other omakase options that are cheaper and better quality.
Be the first to ReplyIts OKAY.
Maybe my expectations were too high for this place. Its not bad, its not great either. One thing that I personally disliked was the amount of rice used in each sushi. Too much rice. The sushis can be touched little more special in my opinion. For $180 plus service charge. Pay a little more and goto Enya or best bang for the buck, goto Sasabune. Probably wont be back

Our first Omakase experience and i'm so glad it was spent at Yasu. Being a seafood snob, especially when it comes to sashimi.... It was so fresh and went above and beyond my expectations. The food was so delicious, the service was warm and welcoming, and overall an amazing experience. We sat at the bar and I enjoyed that the chefs explaining what each dish was and where each component of the dish came from. The scallops from hokkaido were so buttery and sweet, the snow crab was decadent and pops in your mouth, and the toro melts in your mouth and covers the entire tongue
Be the first to ReplyThis place was amazing from start to finish.
This place is an EXPERIENCE and the pace of food was just right for me and my friend (we weren't starving in between). The omakase we had was phenomenal and well put together. Every piece was so delicious and the chef (didn't get his name ) was SO friendly, polite, and knowledgeable. Our server checked on us often and was also very kind! Will definitely come back soon!
Be the first to ReplyHad some really great sushi here and can't wait to return.
Price point was great for the amazing quality of each dish. The chef was super sweet and informative of all the food he prepared for us. I was excited for every piece because each one before it tasted so good and fresh. You will leave here very full. I would definitely recommend having a nice omakase dinner here.
