Simply unmissable restaurant!
Restaurant set in an old weapons warehouse. The atmosphere alone would justify a visit, but the rest is not far behind: the food, the drink, the cordiality of the multilingual service, including in Portuguese, and the fair price. I highly recommend it and suggest booking.
Be the first to ReplyFun family place! Great German food!
Super fun for a family of 5- including 3 teenage boys! The food was so good and the meat sword was a hit! We loved this place!

We were recommended by several people to try the traditional food there. It was also within walking distance. There were a lot of people there and the noise level was not to play with, but it was very good. Enormous portions that can easily be shared. We returned there several times

Great atmosphere, lots of fun and very lively! Large portions, relatively cheap. Absolute cult restaurant in the heart of Zurich.
Be the first to ReplyFun & lively atmosphere in traditional setting with friendly service
Yes, it is mostly tourists, but I am glad I went as it was incredibly atmospheric inside. I had the zwingli-wurst with rosti and house beer that came to about 35 euros (or 37 US dollars approximately). My waiter was from Croatia and he was super nice. I walked in alone and didn't think I would get a table as others were being turned away or told of long waits, but the maître d' was nice and professional and seated me immediately. You will likely share a table unless you are a large group that can fill one. I was lucky and didn't end up having to share. The food was just fine, I am sure there are fancier options in Zurich, but for my first night I was looking for a fun and lively atmosphere in a very traditional setting. I did not have time to do any research, so just quickly picked this place and I'm glad I came!

Classic Zurich cuisine served all day long! It's rare enough to be stressed. Zurich prices (so outrageously high) in a nice period room.

Beautiful restaurant. Waiters nice. Fast service. Beer great. Butter lettuce salad refreshing. Roasted pork excellent flavor as was veal cutlet. Potato salad extremely salty. Apple strudel disappointing. Moisture from apples seeped into pastry making it tough, apples dry and vanilla sauce watery. I would return to restaurant, but would order different dishes.

We made a reservation and our table was ready for us. Food came out quickly. Beer was good. Service was friendly. Great place.

This is by far the best restaurant in Switzerland I’ve ever been. Our waiter named Jaro was super nice and so nice at all times. I truly recommend coming here

Superb meal and great value for money, the restaurant is so full and must be there early to get a good table for dinner. They celebrate well birthdays and special occasions. Food was well presented and good sized portions

The food was good. It wasn’t amazing but good. I would come back. If you don’t want to sit with a stranger to eat you better not come here. If you are two people and they sit you at a four top you better believe you will get another couple next to you. You get used to it. It’s not a big deal. It’s very busy everyday so try to make a reservation but if you go in the off season you will be fine. Don’t get me wrong because it’s still busy!
Be the first to ReplyEntertainment and theatrics with pretty good food and drinks to match!
We stopped in for dinner while in Zurich and wrapping up our 8-day trip through Switzerland. We didn't have reservations and when we arrived there was a line out the door; however, because there were only two of us, we were sat immediately at a communal table with about 9-10 others. The communal table provided us with the opportunity to have a great conversation and banter with 3 Ozzies, a young couple from the Chicago burbs, and about four older Swiss / German (?) travelers. I ordered the sausage sampler with potato salad and it was very tasty; the slight tang of the creamy potato salad helped to counter the richness and flavorful sausages. I also ordered the 'Beer Flambee with Fire Water' which is basically a large martini glass into which they pour whiskey, light it on fire, and extinguish it with the house lager. It sounds and looks amazing, but in the end just tasted like a fresh beer and wasn't much larger than a regular size order. There were little barley bits floating around in the beer which were a little annoying to drink around and I don't believe added anything to the flavor. Our Australian tablemates ordered the 'Mayor's Sword' for 4 people and it truly was a sight to see; a full-sized sword wrapped in grilled meat came to the table. In essence the sword served as a large kabob blade for grilling the meat. Overall, the restaurant has a very entertaining atmosphere and playful theatrics. I'd go back as the food was tasty and recommend others check it out; it's a great time!

We had the meat on a sword, which turned out to be kebabish. The Rosti was worth it, the waitress was friendly and the place was bouncing, worth a visit.

This is a very busy place. If you are coming at a busy time, you may not be able to be seated if you don't have a reservation. It's a beer hall and has a lot of energy. The server wasn't super friendly, but was very efficient. I had the paprika wurst and it was fantastic. My husband got the fish special of the day and it was cooked perfectly and delicious. I would definitely recommend. We wanted to go back the next day it was that good. Everything in Switzerland is expensive, but it was reasonable for what we received.

Excellent food, great staff, nice place. I would 5/5 this place if it was half as expensive. Prices seem unbelievably high, but the food was very good.

This is a hectic, traditional restaurant in the centre, great for meetigs with friends. Place is loud and busy, but this creates a nice atmosphere. Staff was friendly and smiling. All the dishes we ordered were tasty. I do recommend this place!
