Have gone to Al Dente for many years and have enjoyed the food, ambience and food ambience until the last two visits. The food quality, temperature (tepid - not hot like it should be) has diminished including time to receive our meals. The pre-meal bread was not stale but it was like it had been sitting on the counter for some time getting a firm texture that bread gets when left out. The quality of pasta sauces were only on par with that of a bottled sauce from the local grocer and the server appeared less than thrilled to be there. I called the owner the next day wondering what had happened to this wonderful place it used to be. I thought maybe a new owner had taken over. She assured me there was no new owner and she had owned the restaurant for a number of years. It’s one thing to pay high prices for one of the cheapest food products you can buy - pasta! It's another to pay these high prices and then leave disappointed like we did. In fairness to the Owner, she did offer to have us back to the restaurant to make good but my friend was returning home two days later and we were unable to fit it in. That said, I'd feel awkward coming back on a "freebie" and it begs the question why someone would go back to possibly have the same experience - free or not? But, twice in a row the experience has been underwhelming so I don’t think I will take the chance again only to have another "average" meal or embarrass myself because of my ill-advise recommendation to my friends. Sorry!
