Bar-Tabac des Alpilles - Les comptoirs du Gigot Saint-Rémy-de-Provence Reviews from The Last Year
ST Remy's friendly Tabac bistro
A very welcoming place and great spot to just drink wine or have dinner. Most of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful - given our limited French skills. We enjoyed a really nice eggplant dish, and I had a wildly boozy pear sorbet which I must learn how to replicate. A highlight of St Remy.
Good atmosphere
Very friendly place, warm welcome, top-notch and very attentive servers. In terms of cuisine, very good pâté. Specialty leg of lamb accompanied by its gratin dauphinois and a green salad, hearty plate and we'll serve you again. Slightly expensive downside. Very good desserts.
A good visit
St. Remy has a few tourist traps. Bar Tabac Brasserie Comtoir du Gigot is an exception. The reception was very friendly. The owner couple speaks German. Old, very quaint restaurant. The furnishings are very original. The wine list is the patron himself. The choice is great. The dishes are all tasty. The best seller is the whole leg of lamb. Every lunch and evening, 1 - 3 drumsticks are consumed by the guests. Small dessert selection. Digestive cart. Try the rare, excellent Marc du Chateauneuf du Pape. Reservation absolutely necessary. Street parking spaces are always occupied. Use the large on-site parking lot. A good 10 minute walk distance. It's absolutely worth it. Bon appetite. Volker Gamradt
Very successful
Very good bistro! I had the leg of lamb (it’s THE dish of the place) and the baba au rhum, I love it. A place full of charm, I recommend a table in the middle to enjoy the show!
AVERAGE
We'll say average. Encouraged by the rumor, we had lunch and although the leg of lamb was indeed excellent at 26 euros, it was still not cheap. The rest is expensive and ordinary. As for the atmosphere: very noisy, little space. For a romantic meal...abstain!!!!!
Nice friendly restaurant
Lovely food, great service. Good atmosphere and nice wine. The lamb special was very special. Good value as well.
Ashamed
Very disappointed...extremely meager plate Extremely high price. 18 euros 2 tiny slices of smoked salmon with 2 salad leaves 🤣 We'll never come back... I ask myself a question... would the boss and his staff come and have lunch in their restaurant??????? Price-quality level 👎
Very good
Right next to the bar/tobacco shop is the Comptoir du Gigot. Very lively and rustic Provencal interior. No menu, just a large tableau. The speciality is the leg of lamb roasted on the bone with juicy potato gratin. Wines on recommendation and tasting. Fine, spicy meat pie. Roasted fresh figs with bourbon vanilla ice cream. An old Marc (pomace brandy) from Chateauneuf du Pape is the pleasant finale. Make sure you make a reservation!!!
A great gourmet stopover.
A delicious leg of lamb, accompanied by a succulent and hearty gratin dauphinois. A good atmosphere where you feel good, an affable and attentive boss despite an influx of customers. Value for money with no surprises. We have come several times now and each time with great pleasure.
A leg of lamb to gnaw to the bone
If all the counters in France and Navarre could be of this ilk, French gastronomy would be at the top of its reputation (too often watered down). From salads to dishes to desserts, nothing lacks character, creaminess, flavors, atmosphere like the owners who are keen to share their temperament and use their forks to prepare even what their tartare!
Perfect stop for quick lunch, gluten free options
Walking around St. Remy is delightful. We asked at several restaurants if they had gluten free options for one of my kids, many did not. Here we were greeted with a smile and “yes, we have gluten free options!” GF options included beef, lamb, and sea bass. Two of us had the sea bass with fresh vegetables and it was delicious! Fast, friendly service, and tasty, fresh food. Great stop in St. Remy!
A local place did good.
A fun evening. Food was yummy: the four of us had lamb. Sides, apps, and desserts all excellent—I loved the anchovies in the salad—and the local wines perfect for the food. We ate, drank, and laughed. The locals were kind.
