BCD Tofu House New York Reviews from The Last Year

Great assortment of side dishes, and service is amazing-- food comes out so quickly. The soft tofu stew is the best, and this is a great place to go with friends, or even alone. 100% recommend!
I had food here a while ago and I was not impressed at all.
This time I decided to try the tofu soup because I'm getting that's their specialty considering their name literally has tofu in it. I purchased the spicy kimchi soup with beef. I really enjoyed the sides. I loved the kimchi as it had exactly the amount of spice I want. The broccoli, cucumber and onions were good too. It came with an egg to cook in the soup. The soup was boiling hot and tasty. It was pretty spicy so I was sweating. I thought it was super expensive at first but considering how much we get, I was pleased. The only complaint was that it had hardly any beef. I think there was only like 5 small pieces of beef.
Perfect spot to hit up for some late night soondoobu
Perfect spot to hit up for some late night soondoobu cravings!! The service is super friendly and fast, quick to take orders and food comes out within minutes. I love how they refilled our banchan unprompted. They also have a fried fish banchan that I usually don't see offered at other soodoobu spots, loved it! My favorite was the lotus root banchan omg it's so good, flavor, texture and another unique side dish you usually don't get when visiting spots like this. Soondoobu broth is rich and flavorful, good portions. Seafood pancake also hit, love how they were considerate with serving it, slicing it up first then handing out the slices on smaller plates to save table space. Ambiance is spacious, modern and clean, great spot for large groups of friends or a casual date night.
The food was so good, classic and maybe basic but still so
The food was so good, classic and maybe basic but still so good. We got the medium and it was spicy but not too spicy so it was still enjoyable, the serving size was really good too. The service was really good as well but it gets packed, so there was a little bit of a wait. The ambiance was good too very bustling.
BCD Tofu House is a staple in NYC's Koreatown.
I have been here several times and the experience is very consistent. Generally, you can expect: not needing to wait for a spot or a short wait (there is a lot of seating inside), a good amount of food, generally quick service, and good value. You are served several banchans (side dishes), which include a fried fish (croaker). If you don't want this, you can decline any or all dishes from the server. The tofu soups and the bibimbaps are freshly made and extremely hot. Overall, a generally good meal but don't expect anything mind blowing.
Awesome food but always a really long wait.
If you put your name down and walk around it's worth it. Some of the staff interactions are cold but I understand since there is so much chaos going on
Still strong.
Came here for stew after a chilly night at Yankee Stadium, and it delivered. Ambience is the same, tables are close to other tables but it's not too bad. Well lit and clean. Service at the tables is a little slow, they'll mostly leave you alone once your orders are in so it takes a bit of effort to get their attention for more water or the check. On to the food. Hot, spicy and satisfying. The galbi hits different in person vs. delivery. I wish they had more varieties for banchan but you'll also run out of table space. Pancake is a little soggy but still delicious. Available soju flavors are good. The galbi and soup combo is top tier for value and flavor. I happened to put in a DoorDash order for pickup while dining, hoping to pick it up on my way out to take home. Ended up being 20 minutes past my pickup time but when I went to the front desk they told me the order wasn't ready. Didn't make a lot of sense. The hostess stepped away, presumably to check for my order. While she was away, a person off the street came in and grabbed a few orders, while trying to explain to me that he was looking for his orders. I called out to 2 busboys nearby to ask for help but they ignored me. The person ended up walking out with 2 bags. When the hostess came back I told her what happened and she sent someone out to chase the person down, likely to verify that those were their orders. At this point I was pretty upset because it was apparent that this was poorly managed. I should not be deputized to look after their takeout and delivery orders that were sitting out without supervision. And now I'm thinking that they lost my order the same way since plenty of time had passed (40minutes) since I put my order in. That said, it was past 11pm though they were still pumping out takeout and delivery orders. The manager either noticed or was informed and he came by to speak with me and eventually to hand me my order. Mistakes happen, I get that. The manager said that people had walked off with food that wasn't theirs several times that day already. I'll give them credit for service recovery as they packed extra banchan and rice for my order in the end.
best Korean restaurant ever great service taste so
best Korean restaurant ever great service taste so good and people are so kind! If you looking for Korean restaurant I recommend here
This is one of our go-to spots for Korean food when in this
This is one of our go-to spots for Korean food when in this part of NYC. Consistent service and food. This place stays pretty busy. However today we lucked out, there was only about a 15min wait to get a table. The service and food were both good. I would say considering the area and type of Korean food, it was reasonably priced.
This place gets super busy because it's just a well known
This place gets super busy because it's just a well known basic korean spot. But the bibimbap was just so mediocre. It was so bland and severely depended on the gochujang for flavor. They are super generous with the side dishes though!

I've only had their pre-packaged medium tofu soup from the stores. It's a quick easy delicious meal. I was surprised to see how many people just come alone to have a meal here. There were 5 of us waiting. It didn't take too long. They're very efficient and quick here. The place is much much bigger than I thought. I was shocked that my fried fish was pretty warm when I got it. I ate the whole fish and only left a small portion of bones. I really liked their cucumber kimchi as well. The kimchi beef tofu soup was good. I guess I forgot how sour the kimchi can be. The tofu was very good. Glad to know the packaged ones are consistent with the restaurants. There wasn't a whole lot of beef. Overall the meal was perfect for a cold day. Filling but not overly filling.

Came here for lunch with friends during the week and got here before it go really busy. Place has 2 floors and didn't need a reservation. If we had gone prime lunch hour, we would probably have to wait a bit... Was able to get seated upstairs fairly quickly. Service was good. Menu has plenty to select from... and despite the name being Tofu House, they have plenty more than just tofu. Didn't have any starters but have to come back for dinner another time as love japchae with beef and the seafood pancake looks good too. We all ordered the hot stone bibimbap with beef for lunch and it came with sides as part entree combo... which you can eat while waiting for your entree. Be careful as the stone is very hot! It was delicious especially for a cold day outside.. sure warms you up and will smell like it too afterwards.
BCD never fails to be the same comfort food you can find at
BCD never fails to be the same comfort food you can find at all their locations. After a night out in Ktown, ending the night at BCD is just what you need. Luckily, they are open until 5am. First of all, you are served a variety of banchans that are unlimited. They're refreshing and delicious to go as a starter and with your meal. My go-to is the Mushroom Tofu Soup ($18.99), which comes with rice and a fried fish. If you're here with another, I like to share a Combo ($30.99). Such a comforting meal with great, unlimited banchans.
I can always count on BCD Tofu House to be open and to not
I can always count on BCD Tofu House to be open and to not have a wait when it's past midnight and I'm ready to eat. I love the fish they always bring out and their side dishes are one of my favorites. Especially the lotus root, mashed potatoes, and broccoli. I wish they had fishcake though. Their tofu stews are a staple and come out pretty quickly. The medium spice level is like the perfect amount of spice for me, and the broth is rich and always hits the spot.
Came here for a quick brunch before leaving NYC.
Came here at 11am on a Sunday and it was pretty busy. Plenty of seating! Started with the seafood pajeon and lots of yummy side dishes. The side dishes were very good especially the fried fish! We got the seafood tofu soup and the assorted seafood soup. the assorted seafood had beef and assortment of seafood (clams, shrimp..). it hit the spot! definitely one of the better tofu soup spots i've been to!
The food is good but the service sucks.
They "accidentally" gave us 2 rice bowls when we were "supposed to" have one and took one away. What if we had touched to rice bowl?! They didn't say anything and just took it. After that they gave the rice bowl to another table which were a table of two we were a table of five. They got two rice bowl while we got only one!
Delicious Korean Food
This spot is well known for their sundubu-jjigae and I highly recommend! One thing I miss about Korea was the amazing food and Iβm glad I found a place in NYC that delivers just that. If youβre looking for a place that has great Korean food, try this restaurant. The wait time wasnβt terribly long for a table of two despite the line out the door. I will definitely be back next time I visit!
Good value, go early
Go as two people, easier to get a seat that way. And go before 6 cause the queue gets wild. Otherwise great value for the quality and amount of food.
Layover in NYC
The food was great. There was a line and they were busy so were lucky to get in as fast as we did. Shared a couple of plates and it filled us both up. Definitely worth it if you like Korean food and they have plenty of vegan and vegetarian options.
Good and Cheap
This is a really nice and popular place. If you come prime time like 7p or 8p, you'll have to wait because there is a bunch of ppl waiting outside especially during weekends. I went to their original LA location on my first visit and was impressed so I come here in NYC but my most recent visit, I was treated with a table upstairs which is the place to sit because this is a loft and upstairs you can see everything downstairs - quite an amazing view! I love their tofu pots but make sure to eat it fast while it's hot, that's when it tastes best! I fooled around with appetizers and rice that pot became cold and so I wasn't able to enjoy the full pot. I feel assorted pot is best because you get their famous rib eye beef and some seafood. I also like their oysters only pot. When I got their bill, I forgot what it felt like to eat affordable since I been eating at expensive steakhouses most of time.
kimchi tofu soup
I came here twice in a row for dinner. Absolutely love the kimchi tofu soup here. It is difficult for me to find good ones at home and BCD really brought back the taste that i have not had for so many years. The pork meat in the soup was good quality, not too lean and quite tender. You'll love this place. This place gets crowded but never short of seats as they have 3 storeys worth of tables. The staff were very efficient and friendly.
Great Korean Food
The food here is unbelievable. I wouldn't call it a "value meal" necessarily, but the quality of the food is high despite the restaurant's rather run-down decor. Our family always looks forward to eating here when we visit NYC.
Great food and busy atmosphere. Service is middling.
Very good tofu meals at reasonable prices. Wait staff did not speak English so communication was uneven. We will return to try other dishes.

It depends how far out in the future your reservation is. If you posted a reservation hat was 2 months out, itβs unlikely many people will view your reservation. It could also be that your reservation is just not desirable.
