Service
Been to blue a few times so came back after a while of not going and was a bit disappointed food and drinks was lovely but the service wasn’t the best. We had to wait 30 minutes or even a bit longer just to get a drink menu after finishing our food and didn’t even get offered a desserts menu and there wasn’t much interaction with the waiters
Amazing
Great food and a beautiful interior- definitely one of the best in Southampton. Went with friends and have already planned to go again!
Staggeringly atrocious customer service
Three of us had dinner this evening at Blue Jasmine in Southampton Ocean Village. For our main courses we shared dishes placed in the middle of the table. My wife’s second helping/spoonful of the Percik chicken had a long black hair entangled in a piece of meat. It was embedded in the food and there is no chance that it could have belonged to one of us. We all stopped eating at that point, two of us leaving food on our plates and with a significant amount of the prawn noodle dish left uneaten in the serving bowl as we had now lost our appetites. As the waitress came to clear the table my wife quietly mentioned to her about the hair. She immediately called the manager. He came, asked in which part of the meal she had found the hair then removed the offending plate and took it to the kitchen for inspection. He did not apologise and never returned with an explanation. When we were presented with the bill there was still no apology or even acknowledgement of the fact that this had happened. I paid the bill in its entirety as our guest suffers from anxiety and I did not wish to create any upset for her. As we left I stayed behind and told the manager that I was disappointed that he had never returned to the table having inspected the plate, didn’t apologise and hadn’t even removed the dish from our bill. His response was that the food had been on the table for 30 minutes (more a reflection of the slow service) and we had not highlighted it earlier. I explained that it was my wife’s second helping of the dish and we could not predict at what stage in eating the food that she would find the hair. His inference was clear that he thought we were somehow trying it on. I also pointed out that we had not had so much as an apology. He maintained he apologised at the table, but all three of us are clear there was absolutely no apology. How a business deals with problems when they arise says a huge amount about how they view their customers. We will never return.
Fabulous restaurant, delicious food, stunning location.
This was such a special evening, the food was so delicious, we had 3 courses and all tried a bit of each other’s food. Every morsel of food just melted in your mouth. Our server Filipa was so knowledgeable about the whole menu. The cocktails were so decadent, you really were made to feel so special. We were celebrating my friends great news about a health issue, so we celebrated with a bottle of Cristal. Only issue was paying the bill, my friend had her cards stolen and wanted to pay cash, the manager was very rude, he did not handle the situation very well. When your bill is more than £600 for 3 you would expect him to be a bit more discreet, instead he stood above her and made her feel so uncomfortable as he was making a scene. We have frequented the restaurant since they opened, sadly we haven’t been back because of the humiliation brought about by the manager.
Disappointing vegan options
The vegan starter was either a bowl of peanuts or a tiny cup of lotus root. I ordered both, neither of which were nice. My main was ok, albeit quite basic (soy mushroom and aubergine). The dessert was sorbet. In this day and age they really need more vegan options and some tofu dishes on the menu. It was also really cold in the restaurant.
Outstanding
Without doubt the best restaurant in the south. The staff food and decor are first class. Attention to detail truly wonderful service and amazing food. They had added new dishes to the menu to go along side the firm favourites. Delicious. Their NewYear menu ends after the 24/2 so hurry as you won’t want to miss the fantastic dessert. Such an amazing treat to top off a tasty main and starter.
Over priced and underwhelming
Really disappointed. Paid 216 pounds for 2 people. Service charge automatically added on. We ordered 2 Chinese new year set menus - really disappointed. Pork ribs flavourless. As a main dish 2 tiny pork ribs per person. Three starters. Again flavourless. Dumplings plain. None of it tasted like it was freshly prepared. Very disappointed to pay 216 and leave the meal hungry. Was not expecting to have to share every plate when ordering our own set menu each. Was unfortunately one of the worst dining experience of our lives. Over priced and without flavour. On a positive note the service was good and pudding was acceptable. Good ambiance. But would really advise others to avoid this place.
Good Asian Style Location in Southampton
Great location, great food, great service. Honestly could not fault it. Is reasonably priced for Southampton and they cater very well to dietary needs. Give it a try.
Definitely not fine dining
We were really disappointed with our dinner. The restaurant was so cold we had to keep our coats on and the food was very mediocre. It came out separately with my husband’s arriving first, another table being served and then mine coming a bit later with our extras even later. It wasn’t hot and no one asked us how it was. I was expecting amazing food and service given the pricing but it was quite the opposite. On the plus side, the drinks were amazing. A shame the food wasn’t and the place was freezing!
