Hoku's Honolulu Reviews from The Last Year
Nice experience
My husband decided to treat us to a nice belated Valentine's dinner at this restaurant. We often eat at this Hotel because it's close to our house and the food has always been consistently good but it was our fist time at Hoku's. We both had the four course meal. The food was unique and creative. We enjoyed everything that was served. It was fun anticipating our next dish. The staff was very warm, friendly and attentive. The restaurant was not super busy, so it was a more quiet, intimate atmosphere. The dinning room décor is more formal. The portions are not large but they are satisfying. Our dinner time was past sunset so we could not see out the window. We self-parked and had our parking validated.

This place is amazing!! The food is absolutely delicious, the service is incredible, and the ambiance is perfect. My husband and I ate here last night and were continuously impressed with the 5 star service from every person that worked there. Kent and Tony are superstars! Every course was delicious and the wine pairing was perfect. Would definitely eat here again!
Service was good.
The food was not. Expect to pay $450 for dinner of 2 with a couple of glasses of wine and eat mediocre food.

Hoku's Sunday Brunch $110 Overall: ***** Highly Recommended ***** Food: ***** Value: **** Menu: **** good selection Ambiance: ***** beautiful ocean view in AC Service: ***** Parking: ***** valet or self-park validated If you're looking for a delicious Sunday brunch with high-quality and a good selection, Hoku's at the Kahala Hotel is hotel is highly recommended! The first seating begins at 9 AM and goes through the afternoon. You can request indoor or outdoor seating. If it's during the hot summer months, I'd highly recommend indoor seating. My Sunday Brunch Buffet Preference: 1. Orchids at the Halekulani Hotel 2. Hoku's at the Kahala Hotel 3. La Hiki at the Four Seasons Ko'Olina 4. 100 Sails at the Prince Hotel However, it also really depends on what you like to eat at buffets. Orchids has more cold seafood, sushi, salad, poke options, but no lobster. They also have more carving stations, more desserts, home made ice cream and the best coconut cake. (see their video post/review) Hoku's has an enclosed air-conditioned dinning room. On hot & humid summer days, this can be the deciding factor. While they have the smallest selection, they have all the good food & expensive items. You can order lobster tails, fried musubi, and omelette, as part of the buffet as well. They also have the best miso butterfish! La Hiki also has a good selection, lobster. If you're at Ko'Olina, they would be my first choice and I would not drive into Waikiki. My fiancé and I got engaged on Valentine's Day at Kahala
My fiancé and I got engaged on Valentine's Day at Kahala beach and it was amazing! We then went to Hoku's after for dinner and service was phenomenal. Everyone knew the news as the hostess noticed us walking around earlier and shared the news with other staff who went above and beyond for us! From the hostess to our waiter, everyone was so kind. I cannot express how happy I was as everyone was very genuinely excited for us. There was a set menu for Valentine's Day and in all honesty, I was amazed by the food for the cost, but the experience overall made up for everything. Again, I will say with the atmosphere and service though, it was worth every penny. Our waiter was very attentive, friendly, and would take time to speak with us whenever he had the opportunity to. He shared his time equally between all his tables despite it being busy, which was very refreshing to see. All the food items were crafted and delicious, but some items were a little bit too salty for me, but that may have just been my personal taste buds. The highlight for me was the bread with ahi poke spread, because I'm a huge fan of bread and a nice spread. Our server was nice enough to pack me some extra. Experiences like these don't happen often, so I truly appreciated my experience overall. Thank you to everyone at Hoku's!

Brunch! It's been a while but delighted to return! With a mixture of menu and buffet item there is lots of choice! Don't miss the Maine lobster tails, ordered from the menu AYCE or the suckling pig that's offered from the kitchen. Desserts are incredible so don't fill up on all the savory. Only beverages included are water, coffee, tea and a single juice per guest. I think a minimum of a glass of bubbles ought to be included for the price, food offer's generous but stingy on the drink.

This review is for Sunday Brunch The lineup consists of made to order eggs, ahi musubi, lobster tails, Dungeness crab, snow crab legs, sashimi, poke, sushi (rolls/nigiri), prime rib, suckling pig, shrimp tempura, breakfast meats (bacon, link sausage, Portuguese sausage), butterfish, smoked salmon benedict, rice, hash browns, fresh fruits and a variety of bakery items and desserts (my favorite being the bread pudding). The food was delicious, and fresh. Don't sleep on the suckling pig. The skin is perfectly crispy. The table next to us even asked if they could buy a whole pig. Yes, it's good. Kids under 6 are free. Adults are $115 and this price is all inclusive and comes with drinks (coffee, tea, iced tea, juices, alcohol). There is a 2 hr dining time allowance. Service was friendly, fast and the servers were very attentive- clearing off dirty dishes and refilling drinks. The tables are adequately spaced and it wasn't loud. We loved our brunch experience.
Birthday brunch for my daughter at Hoku's.
$110 per adult. Add tip plus valet and it's a pretty penny! Is it worth it? For a special occasion, the answer is yes. But really, how much can you eat? Well, I guess each person has their limit or no limit lol. So, you decide. Before I review the buffet, a very important observation regarding the very narrow and 90 degree angled ramp for person's with walkers or wheelchairs. The access ramp to Hoku's is troublesome. You need to navigate extremely tight angles to use the ramp. My Dad's walker barely made the sharp angled turns without banging the sides and needing to back up and move his walker to make the turns. This is very dangerous for the elderly. Then you are required to walk through the open restaurant seating area ( the area used to be the lobby of hotel?) full of patrons looking at you walk through their eating area. It clearly is not a designated walk-in area. Everyone looked uncomfortable. My Dad felt like he was intruding on their meals. I hope Hoku's reads this review and makes a few changes. Is this ramp ADA compliant? 1 out of 5 stars. Now to the buffet. I will let the pictures show you the variety of dishes offered at the buffet. So many choices. Everything appeared freshly made and replenished immediately. The chefs behind the counters handling the hot carved meats are personable and happy to provide you with the type of cuts you request. There are too many dishes to rate independently. Overall, 4 out of 5 stars. Our table was surrounded by glass windows with the ocean as our backdrop. Beautiful and mesmerizing. 5 out of 5 stars. Our server, Charlotte was professional and her service to our table was impeccable. 5 out of 5 stars.
Great Sunday brunch, come hungry.
Fresh sushi, sashimi, salads, chilled snow & Dungenos crab legs. Prime rib, suckling pig, miso butterfish and breakfast entrees. Lobster tails, egg omelette, and fried poke musubi ordered with server. Great for special occasions and ambience is great!

We stayed in the hotel and saw the prefix tasting menu was interesting, plus it was my bd. We made a reservation and requested to sit by the window to admire the ocean sunset. We had a most beautiful view during the whole dining. There were two servers to care for us, and both were very educated about their menu. The wine pairing list was on point as well. We were delighted with the food, services, and the ambiance

It was a while back but I went to Hokus to celebrate my wedding anniversary with my husband. Made reservations a month ahead. I mentioned that we would be celebrating our anniversary. When we got there, there was a bunch of people waiting to get seated because we went right when it opened. Make sure to ask to sit inside and not on the veranda. We went in august so it was hot outside. The food was amazing! There was so much variety. My favorites were the sushi and shrimp tempura. Service was great and they even brought us a cute happy anniversary dessert. Definitely will be back to celebrate another occasion.

Recently went to Hoku's for the brunch buffet and it was quite delicious. I would like to preface this and talk about the service first we went on the final day of the Sony Open (unbeknownst to us) our reservation was 11:45am and we called letting them know we were stuck in traffic, they were super accommodating I can't say that enough they seated us at 12:20. Normally if you miss your reservation there is a 15 min grace period if you are unable to make it you will be charged a fee. Thankfully they understood the situation and graciously worked with us. The hostess was very friendly when we got there our server was very attentive and helpful even other servers were super nice and friendly. Here's the meat and potatoes of the review the food.. there's a cold area with salad, poke (ahi, talk) breads, and some other items I loved the selection of rolls they also have lilikoi butter and regular. The spicy ahi was so fresh and definitely a kick in the taste buds, the spicy tako was amazing i'd rank that in my top 5 tako poke I've ever had. They had a lot of great dressings to go with the toss salad I ended up crushing some lavash on my salad as a croutons. The sushi was also very good they had a large selection. You can order omelettes and on this day they had a special deep fried rice ball with poke inside it was tasty. The brunch line had these thin rolled cakes think rolled crepes that were out of this world. Of course they had normal breakfast fare hash browns, meats etc the prime rib was also very good and melt in your mouth. Finally the desserts I'm not a dessert person but I really liked the bread pudding and also the tapioca and lilikoi panna cotta. Overall you can't beat brunch while being able to stare out at the beach it was delicious and the atmosphere was so chill and laid back. The reason I took a star away is although I had an amazing experience I can't imagine spending $100+ a head even though I do love the people I went with. Also your meal comes with the choice of 1 free juice (pineapple, guava or orange) for the price it'd be nice to have unlimited juice or soft drinks.

******BUYER BEWARE****** : okay so it's Hawaii, high end with gorgeous views. I am good with what I expect to pay. Food 4 out of 5 with the Foie gras and Wagyu being the star.Lobster and soft shell crab with fried green tomatoes being the disappointment but still good. Service: excellent 5 of 5 except it's their job to explain how things work. How things work: everything is a tasting menu so know you are paying for a set. We got the $125.00 a plate tasting. Add drinks for two and I expect a bill between $250-$300. The bill: holy crap! $450.00 for what? So let's review... $125 x 2 for a 4 course dinner. Except the foie gras, lobster and wagyu have hefty "up charges" that were not disclosed. Add drinks and the bill came in at $450.00. Now I would have paid it willingly had I known but what the F. NO transparency. Shame the sticker shock means I would not return despite the good food, service and experience. This is a bit of a scam and in necessary. So remember, $400 + for a $250 tasting: Buyer beware that's all I am saying
5* tasting menu
We loved the 4-course tasting menu. I enjoyed the refreshing honeydew salad but my companions’ big eye ahi carpaccio looked tempting and both dishes looked amazing. The soft shelled crab was tasty, my first experience of eating the whole crab. The roasted cauliflower, three ways, was appreciated too. I loved the short rib en croute, very filling. Some enjoyed the chicken dish. We finished with delicious desserts, again, beautifully presented. Would recommend you visit. The tasting menu is a lovely experience and the staff are very attentive and describe each dish. The restaurant is attractive and tables widely spaced.
EXCEEDS EXPECTATION
All four of us ordered something different. All four of us could not brag enough about their meal. I had the salmon. It had to be one of the best salmon that I have ever had.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.

Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
