Home House London Reviews from The Last Year
Insult by the waiter
Yesterday, Friday 24 of May I was invited for the birthday gathering of my friend, at the building Home House 21, Portman Square. Our table was scheduled for 8 pm. In the course of our private conversation a waiter all of a sudden asked my friend if I was her mother in the front of the whole table ! We all were shocked by the insult not even knowing how to react … Obviously he is not very bright but if the management allow his employees to speak like these to the customers it tells me a lot about the whole establishment. None of the respectable place would keep this kind of staff. I will never come back to Home House again and will encourage my friends to do the same.
Amazing room
I had another lovely stay at Home house, which lives up to its name and always feels like home from home. I stayed in one of the feature rooms which was beautifully appointed and very spacious. I’ve stayed in several of the rooms and the nice thing is they’re all very unique. I love the fact they have plenty of seating so perfect if you have a friend or two to visit. Also zero noise during the night. The room service is always very prompt and the coffee is perfect. I always find the staff very friendly and helpful. I loved the marquee in the garden and the Sunday roast was delicious. There’s no where I would rather stay in west London when I’m a solo traveller.
A Home away from Home
Such a warm and friendly welcome. Many private members clubs can be pretentious, haughty & pompous. Not Home House. The team are marvellous, and the venue is stunning. Fantastic quality, great service and a prestigious venue in the heart of Mayfair. What more could you ask for?
disappointing staff
Having come here with my family to celebrate a special occassion. We had dinner at the restaurant. I only recall poor service from the past few visits, which makes me feel less likely to go back. Multiply staff here seems to have dental issues, i have never been in any place served by so many staff with such bad smell from their mouth. One of the staff looked drunk, and couldn't speak English well so the evening was ruined.

Upgraded to heaven
Lovely to be upgraded. Anthony room was superb. Decor stunning and the bathroom of dreams. Bed so so comfy. I was so happy in the room I didn’t want to leave so ate in my room admiring the view. So excited to be back this weekend. Thank you so much.
HH!
Long time member here so screen out any biases on the basis. Stayed here maybe 150x since the club opened decades ago but not stayed for some time mostly because am overseas. I often see whining about Home House on this site. It always perplexes me. It has changed there is no doubt, not always for the better but times change and you have to roll with it. It's often too busy and frustrating to find somewhere to sit during the day. The service has never been amazing but I've always found the staff to be helpful and friendly. I know some members who don't use the club because of these issues. However what has not changed is the building and the character of the place. The food prices can at times be silly and the restaurant a bit of a crap shoot. There are still a (v) small number of OG staff members who it is always a pleasure to see and who always remember you. The rooms remain amazing and I challenge anyone to find a more comfortable hotel room experience in London. Impeccable in every way. It's old school. It's more Guy Ritchie movie than TOWIE and that's the way it should be. No more complimentary in room whiskey and brandy but at my age that's a v good thing! Also the bars after hours are always rocking. The smallest Club rooms are massive and the mews gives you a private entrance. Yes the ancient and misplaced electricity sockets are a pain in the ass but they are a historical quirk of this extraordinary old building. If you want plugs and USB sockets grab yourself a Novotel. I don't review here often but stay in hotels about 150 nights a year. I just write this as a confirmatory reminder to enjoy places like this and not tug away at its loose threads seeking to unravel it. HH is OG. Long live HH!
Lovely place in a key location.
Have stayed at home house many times. The property is a top notch London address if you want to go shopping or to the west end. It charges similar prices to similar hotels on Portman square the difference is you get to use the members club which is not on offer at the other local hotels. The garden both winter garden and Summer garden dining is super with a great vibe. Love the Bison lounge but too often at the moment it is shut in the day/early afternoon and you are redirected to house 21. This is a let down get the Bison back open from 12.00 it’s a real selling point. This needs reflection and addressing by home house it’s a really lovely bar. I would agree with several reviews regarding breakfast and Luke warm food. This is an area that currently needs reflection. I have been to home house over a number of years and recently breakfast has not been up to standard. Perhaps this can be considered and actioned to get back to usual home house standards! All in all though love home house and the happy times I have had here :)
Luxurious London pied à terre
I stayed the night at Home House and had dinner in the restaurant with a colleague. My room was luxurious with a beautifully comfortable bed and plenty of creature comforts. We ate very well indeed - sophisticated British themed dishes and an excellent wine list. So good that I’m considering applying for membership.
Disappointing lunch
Around 50 on a business luncheon in this beautiful hotel and restaurant. Badly let down by the food - the soup was luke warm to cold as was the mains of beef. Wine was just about OK and service was hit and miss. What a great shame and the hosts should demand a partial refund!
Xmas lunch at Home House.
My wife’s friend treated us to a traditional 3 course lunch in the Restaurant, and it was very nice indeed. The staff were all very pleasant and efficient, and the service was impeccable. Recommended.
