Lake Inez, south side of Gerrard, just west of Coxwell. We have eaten here before, and attend it's Weird Wine Club (a sort of monthly evening to taste natural wines from around the world, and learn!). This is a complete and total gem, with an eclectic decor. If I am not mistaken, one of the owners spent his summers as a child at his Grandmother's cottage on Lake Inez in the States. Hence the name. There is an incredible mosaic over the entire bar at the back. It is cozy, while also edgy. I can't tell you what music was playing, because it is a place full of chatty, laughing patrons. By 7:15, it was completely full, with no tables for the night, but some bar seating available, so make a resi. They make some super inventive cocktails (they can do traditional ones, too), and the special ones are all 3 oz. or more, lol. π So walking or Uber might be a plan. The wine list is heavy on natural wines, and is quite large. They also have a great selection of craft beer and ciders. They got a new chef a while ago, and wow, we love the food he is creating! The food is meant to be shared, with a couple of plates per person being more than enough. Funny thing..... hiding the food seems to be a thing πEach dish arrived with something on top, making the main ingredient invisible. In my pics I moved the top layer a bit so you can see the actual food. Once again, sorry for the blurry photos. Tough lighting and wooed by the food! My son and I split the Fried Green Tomatoes, Kielbasa Sausage rolls, Tuna Tataki, and 2:45 a.m. Fried Rice, aptly named if you've ever raided your fridge in the middle of the night for leftover Chinese food. Humour runs rampant through the descriptions of food and wine. We never eat dessert, but had to try their version of Strawberry Shortcake. Just a total yum-fest. Lake Inez is not fast food. It is one of Toronto's (IMHO) best restaurants, with great staff and food that wows. How blessed are we to have it right here? Check it out, even if just for a glass of wine, cocktail and snacks at the bar!
