Langdon Hall Country House Hotel & Spa Cambridge Reviews from The Last Year
Top hotel in Canada
Stayed here for a work retreat. Stayed in the attic suite which was huge and lovely . The wood burning fireplace , the beautiful bathtub and the incredibly comfortable feather top king bed. The food at the restaurant is probably the best in Canada . Make sure to book a massage at the spa. Can’t recommend this place enough .
Langdon Hall Continues to Raise the Bar
We decided to break up the dreary month of November with a weekend getaway to Langdon Hall—I believe our 21st in the last 18 years. We were last there in August for a two-night stay during the final Barbecue Series event, and there were a couple of little issues with our visit. I forwarded them to the new GM, Andres Londono, and I was very impressed when he called to discuss them with me in detail. He assured me that our next stay would be flawless…and it was. This time we chose a room in the Main House. It was sumptuously appointed and spotless, with a thoughtful welcome note and the delicious arrival amenity we’ve come to expect and enjoy from the Langdon Hall kitchen. We settled in quickly and ordered a couple of appetizers from the room service menu in advance of our dinner reservation at Wilks’ Bar. The new(ish) decor in Wilks’ Bar and the Conservatory is pretty, but I do miss the dark, moody ambience of the Wilks’ Bar of old. Regardless, we enjoyed a delicious three-course dinner, but due to a large party in the Main Dining Room, service was quite a bit delayed. Staff was exceedingly apologetic, yet we didn’t really mind. After dinner, we returned to the room, where turndown service had been stealthily performed, and we slept soundly in the cloud of a bed, with a blazing fire a few feet away. Breakfast the next morning was as great as ever. I especially enjoyed the new Dutch Baby entree—so delicious (and beautiful) that I had it both days. It’s nice that espresso based drinks are now included in the breakfast package as well. During the day we enjoyed the trails, and I drove out to the St. Jacob’s Farmer’s Market. We also made use of the gym and played cards in the front atrium with a glass of wine. Dinner in the Main Dining Room the second night was again excellent, even with Chef Bangerter away in Europe, but there were noticeably long delays between courses. Again, without a word from us on the matter, staff apologized profusely and more than made up for the inconvenience. This kind of proactive troubleshooting is evidence of how much the Langdon Hall team really wants to make the guest experience extraordinary. They even asked if we wanted to have the fire lit in our room as we were on the dessert course, and when the meal ran long, someone returned to the room to add more wood and make sure the fire was roaring when we went upstairs. We are already looking forward to a weekend return in February. For its bucolic setting, luxury accommodations, and the finest AAA 5-Diamond dining, Langdon Hall has no rival in Ontario.
Loud, dated and staff don't know what's going on
We were extremely disappointed with our recent visit to Langdon Hall (our second). The reservation and front desk staff seemed to know nothing about basic amenities and schedules at the hotel. We asked for quiet room, and were booked directly on top of a party room that had a holiday party booked. The front desk had no idea what was available in the spa (i.e. hot tub, sauna, etc). The room itself was dated with poor heating, and a heating fan that loudly went off and on all night. We complained to the front desk, who did nothing, and also to the supervisor in writing after we got home, who also did not provide an adequate reply (and took 6 days and a reminder email to provide any). Definitely not Relais and Chateau quality.
Staff are amazing
The staff are amazing. Friendly, helpful and kind. A family member had a personal emergency while we were there and the staff went above and beyond. Thank you. The food was very special. The decor in beautiful and comfortable too. The whole experience was excellent.
up and down
We recently spent 2 nights at Langdon Hall. We stayed in the old, original building, which is quite charming in an old school way. The amenities and the friendly staff make it easy to not leave the grounds. However, this is an upscale resort, and one should expect an upscale experience. First, the room. It was quite nice: well furnished, with plenty of room and storage. However, the bed with of the soft side for my wife and my taste, bordering on lumpy. It was not a comfortable sleep. Our sleep was interrupted by hammering sounds coming from the ceiling above us. They were not caused by people walking (although we did hear those too), but rather sounds like doors shutting or water hammering. We commented about the noise the next morning and were told our room was haunted: how does one discuss alleviating noise when you are told ghosts are making the disturbance! The next night we slept with ear plugs, but were awaken about 1 am with the smell of smoke in the room. We called the front desk thinking perhaps there was a fire, and were told guests had built fires in their room fireplaces (this despite temperatures in the 90s F during the day). We were offered an "air purifier," which we took: it turned out to be a plastic bucket filled with scented pellets with a fan attached. Within a few minutes we had a room filled with a deodorant smoke smell (we returned the purifier). We were offered another room, but it was well after midnight, and we went back to bed in our room. The food and wine at the resort were good. We ate all our meals there. However, the service was at times underwhelming. The first night we were there, we had an 8 pm reservation for dinner. After being seated, we were quickly served drinks and an appetizer. Our dinner eventually came around 10:30 pm. At 11 pm, I went to bed without dessert, and my 3 companions said the final course arrived in time for an 11:20 departure. This was too leisurely for a pleasant dinner. However, I do wish to comment on the wine tasting that was held in the late afternoon. It was provided by one of the sommeliers at the restaurant. It was enjoyable, educational, and highlight of my stay. Also, the wine service at the restaurant was also quite good; we were provided with knowledgeable, helpful suggestions for pairing of wines with the food. All in all, I would definitely avoid rooms on the second floor if you are at all noise sensitive.
A 5 star hotel in Ontario
This is a review for February 2021. Love the rooms in the cloister buildings. The fireplace is wonderful for winter stays. The hotel had little fire pit areas set up outside, romantic trails around the property. 5 star dinner/breakfasts (much improved from previous stays) and service in dining rooms. Don't hesitate to get the dinner/breakfast package. It's worth every penny. Over the years we have returned to this hotel because of the rooms and the added bonus of top notch meals. Hope to come back soon.
Minuscule portion sizes. Be prepared to go out for dinner after eating dinner at Landon Hall
Restaurant only. Food quality excellent. Portion sizes unbelievably small to the point of being ridiculous. My lobster appetizer was four small pieces of lobster and 20 or so peas ($30) my chicken serving was literally the size of a small chicken wing ($53). Add two glasses of wine etc $270. Redeeming feature is the food quality which was wonderful. If this was a five course tasting menu the portion sizes would have been ok but we left the restaurant hungry and very unsatisfied.
Anniversary at Langdon Hall
Our second visit to Langdon Hall. Definitely, it is a quiet hidden gem. An "old English/stately" type setting. i believe Sarah Richardson from HGTV designed property. The staff are friendly, professional and put customer service as a top priority. The dining options are expensive but you certainly get top quality over quantity. We love to walk and enjoy the trail options. My only suggestion would be better signage on the trail and clearing a more visible path. I understand not wanting to distract from the natural beauty, yet walking trail maintenance would improve the experience. The hotel grounds are stunning with pool, gardens, open-air sitting, spa tennis, etc. Langdon Hall is certainly not your typical hotel experience. It is expensive but worth it. All depends on your needs and wants on a hotel stay.
Wonderful stay
Beautiful grounds, lovely and professional staff, delicious food, comfy and clean room. The gardens outside, which we toured with a great guide, are used to grow local fare that is used in the kitchens. Delicious evening cocktails.
Exceptional Hotel!
What an exceptional place! We celebrated our anniversary with two incredible days of wonderful spa treatments, beautiful gardens and pools, amazing food, and service that attends to your every wish! Can't recommend this hotel and spa more highly.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!

Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
