Libby’s Southern Comfort Cincinnati Reviews from The Last Year
We went for brunch and it was delicious .
.. but Beware if you order the Lox and Bagels that it comes on a charcuterie type board which means no lip and the capers will roll off. This is also listed as "Bagels" in it is just one bagel. If you plan on ordering A la Carte, the prices online are not the same as what was listed on the in-house menu. Onsite was more expensive so they have not updated their online pricing. The stuffed French toast was very good but while the fruit was large and fresh, it tasted like it was not washed and had a chemical flavor to it. It probably wouldn't have been noticeable if it was on the French toast but it came out separately to the table. The location feels small but it could have been the table location. Servers kept running into our chairs. I recommend you make a reservation because it seems like a frequently visited place. Overall was a nice brunch but not my favorite.
The food is good other than what they are advertise for
The food is good other than what they are advertise for FRIED CHICKEN! It was burned and in some places black. It was dry as a bone. The sides are great. The Frozen Cheerwine is very tasty. I don't think I would return.
First of all the service is great and probably the food is
First of all the service is great and probably the food is just as great- but as an older person I don't eat much fried food and southern foods aren't appreciated or as appealing to my GI tract. My husband however loved the fried chicken, but my daughter didn't rate the honey hot chicken as excellent and my fried green tomato sandwich just fell apart and was hard to eat. All in all I think you should just go for the fried chicken
My new favorite place in Kentucky and the world to get
My new favorite place in Kentucky and the world to get fried chicken. Fantastic sides as well, green beans and Mac & Cheese are phenomenal. Since I've only had lunch there I have had a chance to enjoy the incredible bourbon selection that Libby's offers. I plan to have dinner with my wife there soon and find out. BTW, save room for dessert and the homemade oatmeal pies.
good food, excellent service
Awesome good, beyond excellent service. Cassie was fantastic! Best collard greens I've ever had, even when I lived in the south.
Great food.
Nice portions. Great ambience. Nice neighborhood restaurant. The shrimp po boy was tasty.
Do not go during Restaurant Week.
Service was extremely slow. Food was cold after waiting for over 45 minutes.
Fried chicken sandwich with gravy and biscuit was AMAZING
Fried chicken sandwich with gravy and biscuit was AMAZING and huge! Service was also great.
Amazing service and delicious food! Our server was so kind
Amazing service and delicious food! Our server was so kind and attentive, she let us try a sample of the coleslaw and answered all of our menu questions with ease! We shared the deviled eggs, yum. I got the Alfredo pasta with blackened chicken (double yum, definitely recommend this add-on), my friend got the shrimp and grits (she was very pleased), and my fiancée got the 2-piece chicken entree with a side of coleslaw and Mac-n-cheese (Mac was just OK but the fried chicken was really good).
This has been on my bucket list forever and it did not
This has been on my bucket list forever and it did not disappoint ....Had lunch here today....super welcoming service....perfect bourbon cocktails and sublime fried chicken and sides....My Sister had the shrimp and grits with a side salad....a little loud but I can manage that with a mute to my hearing aids! I took my honey pie home to savor tomorrow! Can't wait to return!

The food was good, but portions were not great, especially
The food was good, but portions were not great, especially for the price. Prices need to be updated on the website. They are off several dollars on some dishes. Parking lot is small and if full you may have to pay to park. Service was good and ambiance was okay.
Although more and more "Southern" restaurants seem to open
Although more and more "Southern" restaurants seem to open over the years in the Cincinnati metro, something seems off about most of them. With Libby's, I can't quite put my finger on what the problem is, although the gist of it is that the menu is too limited and the prices are 2 or 3 notches too high. I like the look and feel of the place. The owners converted what they say was an old wholesale grocery--very industrial bones--and have turned it into a modern yet very comfortable and inviting spot. It can get quite loud on a weekend evening, though. But as I suggest, the food and prices are a bit of a problem: About half of the entree list is chicken, most of it fried. And there's a pasta with alfredo sauce, which is always boring. There's also a salmon, which absurdly enough, a server told my wife the kitchen wouldn't (or couldn't) cook to order and, in so many words, that it would come out well-done. (Any restaurant serving a $30 salmon dish and not offering, much less being able, to cook it medium (or less) needs either to reconsider offering that fish or to hire people who can frigging cook it properly. My wife of course did not order the salmon.) I've had the fried oysters a couple of times, which are quite good but overpriced. Speaking as a native Southerner, I think Libby's needs to discover pork. That seems like a gaping hole in its menu. The side and apps are a bit better: fried green tomatoes are nicely executed (overpriced again, though, at $14), as are deviled eggs (which are still not as good as Sacred Beast's, even if a couple of dollars more expensive). From the sides list, Libby's does a great job with the collard greens and blackeyed pea salad. Libby's is OK but seems like it ought to be better--and a better deal--than it is.
Our favorite restaurant! Great good food, casual hip
Our favorite restaurant! Great good food, casual hip ambiance & vibe. They know how to do fried chicken & mashed right. The Willy burger & fries are also one of our go-to selections. The staff is always great too.
Bartender was terrible today.
We sat down at the bar and he just stood there talking to another employee. Then he started fixing drinks. 10 minutes later he asked us if we wanted a menu. Worst service we have ever had there. We left after 15 minutes since he continued to ignore us.
We have been here many times and had great experiences
We have been here many times and had great experiences until today... No one approached us or bothered to wait on us. After sitting at the bar for a bit we left and ate somewhere else. The staff seemed low energy- it was a strange vibe for sure. We were the only people at the bar.
Disappointing; terrible service
We sat at a high top that was a piece of a cut tree trunk that was hollowed out, so there was this large hole in the center. Weird. We ordered the fried green tomatoes for appetizer and some time later, someone brought us some type of fritters. We told them we had ordered fried green tomatoes. He looked surprised and went back. It took more time to get those. The tomatoes were kind of sour. Eh. Just okay. We waited for our server to come back to take our order. We waited and waited and waited. Meanwhile, she was enjoying her time with two really loud women drinking at the bar. She finally came and took our order and we waited a long time for our food. My husband ordered a sandwich and salad and I ordered a sandwich and fries. After an even a longer wait, the plates finally came, but they served me macaroni and cheese instead of fries. So they had to go get the fries. She told me to keep the Mac n cheese, which was just okay. I'm glad I didn't order it because it tasted like what I make at home. My husband's sandwich had greens on it that looked like lawn clippings. Not kidding. I know it was spring mix, but it was not appetizing. Our server was entirely inattentive and seemed unconcerned with quality of service. The food was not worth the money. We will not go back and I do not recommend this place at all.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff with the most delicious food
After reading numerous reviews we just had to check out this restaurant on our fall girls trip. Libby's did NOT disappoint. Staff was very welcoming, gave excellent recommendations! Highly recommend their Cheerwine Bourbon Slushie...great way to start your meal. We tried the Charlie Brown and here's my biggest tip....make sure you have at least 2-3 people to split it with you. The portion is HUGE!! Delicious and very filling. It's made with REAL turkey and not deli meat...another huge plus. We chose to eat inside as it was a chilly evening but they do have outdoor seating available. If you are in town for a Bengals game or traveling through do yourself a favor and stop here! Well worth it!!
Great Southern Comfort Food
On a recent trip back to my home town of Covington, KY, Libby's Southern Comfort was recommended by several old friends. Parking is a challenge, and indoor seating is limited, but the food is worth it. We shared an appetizer of fried green tomatoes. My wife had a grilled chicken dish and I had a "Charlie Brown", which is their version of a Kentucky Hot Brown. Everything was delicious.
A good meal
My wife had a salad with blackened chicken and she went home and looked up how to make that salad dressing because she loved. I had shrimp and grits with good flavor and portions. I had an old fashion for my beverage that was nicely done. Two meals in town and two thumbs up for Covington.
