LOCATION AND AMBIENCELocated at Fairmont Hotel, you do not go into the Fairmont Hotel lobby side to get to the restaurant though. So quite a number of people will get lost. You'll have to go up to level 3 via the shopping centre escalators first, and then into one of the smaller passageways behind the shops to get to the restaurant. So do try and go early and work up an apetite as you play "find the restaurant". The tables are a bit more spaced out due to the covid-19 social distancing measures with staff wearing face masks during service. It is highly recommended that you make a reservation first before going. FOOD & DRINKSMost of the food is excellent as usual, especially the tempura, eel kabayaki (very soft, melt in your mouth and didn't really taste any bones). Go for the Grand Tasting Set if youare feeling peckish, else you can pick from the menu, although it's a bit smaller selection now. The sushi is also very good, although the prawn tempura in one of our sushi was soggy. The Yuzu Sake is excellent and very refreshing, and you can keep the lovely mini decanter shaped bottle if you want to.SERVICEThe service seems to have dropped a bit, although the wait staff are still very attentive and will attend to your requests. There were times when our dishes took some time to arrive (the same happened to the table next to ours) and we had to call the staff to check on our orders again. Looks like the restaurant is also having to deal with manpower constraints. We just took more sips of our sake while we waited.COSTOne of the highly rated Japanese restaurants in Singapore, so expect similarly high prices. Good idea to combine some credit card promotion or reserve through a 3rd party reservation platform to get a better deal.CREDIT CARD DEALS & OTHER PROMOTIONSBelow info courtesy of Swissotel website.- Up to 50% off total bill for Accor Plus members or American Express ® Platinum Credit Cards (AMEX Love Dining)- 25% off total bill with OCBC Credit/Debit cards- 20% off total bill with HSBC, Citibank or DBS Credit/Debit cards- MasterCard cardholders enjoys one complimentary main course for every order of 2 main coursesDo also checkout other 3rd party reservation sites such as Chope, HungryGoWhere, & Quandoo but do note that you may not be able to use it in conjunction with the credit card promos. Best is to call to check.CONCLUSIONDefinitely a place that I'll be returning to especially for the ambience and the food.
