Mr. B's - A Bartolotta Steakhouse - Brookfield Reviews from The Last Year
My family and I celebrated Mother's Day brunch at Mr.
B's - A Bartolotta Steakhouse, and it was truly a delightful experience. The ambiance was very pleasant. The food and drinks surpassed our expectations; each dish was expertly crafted and bursting with flavor, making it a memorable culinary journey for all of us. However, while the service was decent, there were moments where we felt it could have been more attentive and prompt. Despite this minor hiccup, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Mr. B's and would definitely return for another exquisite dining experience.
For many years my wife and I have been fans of Mr.
B's. Living in the area this has always been our go to place for date night or special occasions. In recent years, since Covid for sure, the place has changed. For a couple years we've dropped back in to see how things were going or if the restaurant got its groove back, however last night we agreed this was our last visit. The restaurant used to be bustling with folks clamoring at the door for a table or a place at the bar. Last night my wife and I were one of 5 tables at 7:00pm on a Friday night and the bar and bar dining area was empty. By 7:30pm we were the only guests in our section. The servers were fine but not incredible. Not representative of the professional wait staff from years ago. The incredible service had been highly attentive with every detail covered...but no more. The servers were simply there to take our order. No description of specials and no interest in us. The prices have gone up considerably. I can only assume they embedded their Covid premium up charge into every line item on the menu. Before tip our bill was $155 for (1) 8 oz filet, (1) burger, (1) shared wedge salad and (2) glasses of wine. The filet was perfect as it always has been, but not worth the price. My medium temp burger was a fail, dried out and the top garnishes underwhelming. We opted out of dessert since the staff were beginning their side work as if we were at Chili's. We were home by 8:15pm and were very disappointed with the experience and the realization that our special place was no more. Again, the staff were fine but not exceptional professionals as we had come to know over the years. They were forgettable. The food was fine enough but over priced. The wine selections by the glass were fine but also over priced for the pour. The 20%-25% increase in pricing coupled with the average service is disappointing and not the value you expect from a high end steak house. It's how you feel when you leave an establishment like this that matters most. Sadly, we will not be returning.
Steak cooked to perfection in a custom 1100-degree
Steak cooked to perfection in a custom 1100-degree wood-burning oven. That means your mouth will thank you. Be sure to order the mushrooms and onions because that and a glass of Cab will make for the perfect pairing.
We chose Mr.
B's for a birthday dinner. We wanted to bring the kids along and found Mr. B's had a kids menu. It gave my daughter the opportunity to try her first steak at a restaurant. She gave the kids steak a 5 star and is already asking when she can go back. Didn't get too many photos because we were too busy enjoying the atmosphere and fine food. From the bread basket to the flourless chocolate cake everything was delicious. Wife had the scallops and found them to be perfect, did mention that she would prefer them on a bed of risotto but aside from that she was satisfied. I had the New York with the loaded baked potato. The flavor of the steak is remarkable and you can tell they really take the time to prep the steaks. We also had the wedge salad which was a perfect size, full of fresh ingredients. Service was 5 star, they kept all the beverages full, cleared the table quickly. We will definitely be back, with the kids.

mr. B's is awesome but expensive but the food is delicious. Services is awesome. If the prices would go down a little bit would be awesome. I do have their address. They are on capital down between Calhoun and Brookfield Road on the right hand side if you're going out of Brookfield area. Delicious but take your wallet and or your credit card with you.

Poor Service
Unfortunately very poor service for a special dinner. This is supposed to be an upscale steakhouse, and it used to be. We were seated on time. Our service team introduced themselves promptly. We got menus and water. 15 minutes to take our drink order, another 15 minutes to get the cocktails. Our food order was taken by a 3rd person. Bread brought to the table 40 minutes after we sat down. Our main server filled our water glass one time, the only time we saw her. Our dinners came out, and the food was delicious, however the brussels sprout side dish was not hot. Two cocktails, one 1 $17 salad, 2 entrees, and 2 side dishes came to $230. The service just doesn't measure up to the prices. We won't return.

I was really torn on writing this review because I LOVE the Bartolotta group restaurants, but unfortunately this just did not hit the mark and realistically I wouldn't go again or recommend this location. (But the others are amazing and you definitely should try them out)! When I think of a Bartolotta Steakhouse I think upscale, high quality, and SUPERIOR service. (Aka lake park bistro - my favorite restaurant). However, even with 2 servers we did not feel this was an upscale service experience. Our servers didn't seem to like each other (just a feeling we got) and did not communicate well, we were asked the same questions by both - and offered the dessert menu twice at the end of dinner even though we had dessert FIRST. Both servers were friendly and pleasant when interacting with us however, they just didn't give off the superior service feeling and I didn't feel like they worked well as a team. The food was very flavorful and both our steaks were cooked to the perfect temperature. Also, We actually started our meal with a crème brûlée, which was absolutely perfect. The drinks, however, left some thing to be desired. we got an espresso martini and their coffee cocktail and neither screamed out to us with flavor. And then we attempted to order a bottle of wine, but unfortunately, our servers didn't know that much about the different wines and even took the menu from out my hands to read the description when I asked a question about a bottle. The bartender was very kind and came over and offered a sample of a different wine to see if I liked that without me asking which was amazing. But again at a Bartolotta restaurant I expect my server to be well-versed in their wine list if I'm paying that price point for a bottle, or at least have someone else on staff that can come and properly answer my questions. And a personal note, I hate the checkered tablecloths it does not give that clean/upscale vibe. The inside gave more suburb supper club vibes where you can enjoy with your family versus a fancy date night experience. (Which isn't a bad thing - if that's what you're looking for this is the perfect location for that.) Overall, this restaurant is very pleasant and if you have the money to enjoy it, absolutely go for it. But when my husband and I treat ourselves only once a year to a Bartolotta restaurant for our anniversary and expect an amazing meal from start to finish this just didn't hit the mark.

Fantastic food, 2 waiters to each table which is the Bartolotta restaurant model. Steaks properly cooked to perfection and the scallops were delicious. Looking forward to my next visit.
Mr. B's is a go-to for a consistently well-prepared meal
Mr. B's is a go-to for a consistently well-prepared meal and great service. On our most recent visit on a weeknight we sat in the bar area and enjoyed a delicious meal. The bar was busy but felt cozy, with a mix of couples, families, and business associates, and we could converse comfortably. We shared the wedge salad and the decadent lobster mac. Then we enjoyed the steak sandwich, loaded with fried onion strings and mushrooms, and the 8oz. filet with the bacon roasted potatoes. Both the sandwich and the filet were cooked perfectly as ordered. We finished the evening with coffee and crème brûlée and flourless chocolate cake. So good! Our server was attentive and the manager stopped by our table to check in. We'll definitely be back to celebrate special occasions or just a nice dinner out.
Fantastic spot for a special occasion.
We enjoyed a family holiday meal at Bartolotta this December. The service is top-notch, the atmosphere is has a classic, classy feel, and the food is delicious. I enjoyed my fillet mignon (tender and full of flavor) and the sides of brussels. broccolini, mashed potatoes, and mushrooms. I also enjoyed the non-alcoholic berry fizz - so, so good! We ended the night splitting the apple crumble - yum!
Disappointed
Not even considering the cost, you would think a steak house would know how to make a steak. Both teaks overdone. My medium rare was more medium well. Not much flavor either and not much juice. The double baked potato was bland and dry as well. The pork belly was really good. Service was good and out waitress was excellent. Off night or???
Left something to be desired
This was my first experience at Mr. B's and I did have high expectations for this meal. The Bartolotta name is well-known for quality food and service. The interior matches the exterior which to me is cozy and inviting while being hosted by a friendly staff. During the visit our waiter greeted us, went over the menu, and checked how our food was. Our butternut squash soup was the star of the meal as it's consistency was very nice and the roasted pepitas added a nice texture. After that there was quite a gap between our soup and entrée. Unfortunately when the entrée came out it was barely warm and had to be refired adding to the wait. The beef short rib was tender, but kind of uninspired and the brussel sprouts were pretty raw. We had a pair of good desserts, but then to close we waited 20 minutes after our cards were given the the waiter because they charged me for a $340 bill that wasn't mine. Oh and I was never offered a refill on my drink during the whole dinner. While It wasn't a horrible experience and it may have been an off night, but it did leave much to be desired.
Not that good
This restaurant is simply not that good and there are far better options for less dollars in the western suburbs of Milwaukee. The place looks Ok but the food and service was below par for sky high prices. The Shrimp Cocktail was Ok, the Crab Cake app was terrible. It got worse from there. The Salmon main dish was over cooked and tasted terrible. Service was lacking until we got to the bar and than t became terrible. It was raining outside so we went inside to the bar and had to wait 20 minutes for a coffee refill. The meal was below average and $230. We will not return
