Octopus Japanese Restaurant Menlo Park Reviews from The Last Year
A pleasant restaurant in downtown Menlo Park.
Good value, good food, and good service.
This is a cute little quaint Japanese spot in Menlo Park.
They have some cool wall art paintings of octopus and other things. There is street parking, but not too sure if there is a parking lot we didn't see. My boyfriend and I went on a weeknight and it was about half full or so by the time we left around 815pm or so. We sat in the back and there were a few people picking up takeout orders from a back door. So the food - pretty much everything we tried was good. We got the sashimi omakase; I liked most, but some pieces were a bit fishy for me. Their vegetarian pieces is what actually blew my mind. They did not have a serious amount of items to choose from but it was pretty decent. All of the ones we tried were phenomenal!!! I am not even vegetarian or vegan and I loved it! I told the server my allergies, and I believe it was related to the chefs, however, there was an item that made it to my table that I could not eat that I was told I could eat. Luckily, I did not eat it. I told the server I am allergic to chilis of any sort, tomatoes, oranges and anything related to an orange. An item with paprika, a type of chili, made it to my plate. When the server asked "what is that?" referring to the paprika, we had to educate the server what paprika is.
They are our go to spot for sushi.
They have so many rolls to choose from. We have both non sushi lovers in our home and they have plenty to choose from.
Family came here to share some sushi.
... I had the spice girls roll (spicy tuna, cucumber and wakame salad) and an order of unagi nigiri. Hubby got the sushi platter (which also included salad and miso). Everyone left happy and stuffed! Very friendly service as well. :-)
amazing hidden gem of a sushi place.
love their green tea. they have an amazing selection of sushi rolls and bento boxes! service is fast and great. definitely a chill and relaxed environment where you can stuff your face without getting weird looks from other people. love it.
Incredible food and service!! Highly recommend.
Food prepared on site and fresh! Priced reasonably also.
Regular patron, I've been meaning to write a review since
Regular patron, I've been meaning to write a review since I've been coming here since they opened. Typically get take-out for the occasional weeknight dinner. Top-notch fish every time, they pretty much set a high standard for takeout. Thanks Jeff
I'm visiting from NYC and my friends took me to this spot
I'm visiting from NYC and my friends took me to this spot for dinner last weekend and I LOVED IT! Ambiance was amazing! I'm usually skeptical of sushi spots that have a variety of rolls because they typically skimp on the quality of fish they use, but the rolls and sashimi were FRESH. Not to mention, the prices are very affordable for this area apparently since it's close to Stanford and Palo Alto? Anyway, delicious and thank you for being accommodating with the seating that night!
I didn't realize this gem was in my neck of the woods til
I didn't realize this gem was in my neck of the woods til my friend introduced me. I could see it being a perfect spot for an intimate dinner, hang-out with friends, or solo-dining. I'll be ordering take-out from them in the future since it's on my way home from work, otherwise I don't think I'd mind dining solo here, the ambience is cozy and just right IMO. The service is also great! Underrated sushi spot, definitely recommend!!
I recently dined here w my girlfriends.
. I was impressed by the quality of fish for my nigiri and sushi rolls- definitely surpassed my expectations. More importantly, the customer service was exceptional, very attentive and genuinely caring. I think what sets this place apart is the cozy family feeling- it's not just a meal, but an experience that makes you feel right at home. Highly recommended for sushi enthusiasts seeking fresh fish and overall great customer service. Ty Jeffrey and Shin for a fun dining experience, we'll be back!
Attention Owner: Astounding and shameful dining experience.
Lacked complete hospitality. No genuine smiles. Two sushi bar workers appeared disgruntled and unhappy. The quality of food was less than average. I am thankful for the observations of workers glued to their cellphones, sitting around seemingly "bored" and the female server monitoring/hounding me while I was sorting the bill. Incredibly rude and gravely inappropriate. One of the most repulsive, awkward and rushed dinner encounters. Please polish your overall business and I may return.
I LOVE THIS PLACE! My favorite casual sushi spot in the bay
I LOVE THIS PLACE! My favorite casual sushi spot in the bay area! Their food is always so fresh and the rolls are so well made! My favorites are the starburst roll, and the JJ's special roll! The place is a bit small and can get busy sometimes and they don't take reservations so be sure to come early! The service is normal, nothing super special. But the sushis are just soooo goood!!
