The blue crab croquettes are amazingly tasty! I am going to dream about this appetizer at night. The Prima Donna was refreshing and light. The Malabar shrimp was the best comfort food. Come, relax and eat you will like it!

Top service here they are a more culinarily focused Indian restaurant with great flavors. Atmosphere is perfect for a dining experience and was the perfect date night. I really enjoyed the butter chicken, naan, vegetable curry and the cheesecake dessert is so good! The prawn appetizer was tasty but a little small. Everything was perfectly seasoned and just enough heat.
I am not Indian and I don't really go to Indian restaurants
I am not Indian and I don't really go to Indian restaurants because I don't really know how to order the food. The owner and his waiters are very nice and helpful. The food was amazingly good. He recommended me a drink which is good and refreshing. I would say. This is a high end Indian restaurant. I highly recommend whoever appreciates good food.
Food here was so delicious.
Everything was flavorful and cooked perfectly. I will definitely be coming back here.

We're regulars from the time the restaurant was named Rasa and the name change has, if anything, made it better. The food, service and ambiance are all amazing. It remains our go-to restaurant for all special occasions and taking friends visiting from outside the Bay Area!!

I find it fascinating that elevated Indian cuisine is so prevalent here in the Bay Area. While most Indians and non-Indians alike love their Butter Chicken and Palak Paneer, it's nice to see the flavors of Indian cuisine in different forms. Saffron offers traditional flavors in somewhat non-traditional means. I wouldn't characterize it as a avant garde, it is unique. I did a tasting menu and was offered a choice of a starter, a main and then a dessert. The starters we chose were the panko crab cakes and Andhra chicken. The chicken was lightly fried, not greasy and delicious. The portion size was quite large, but my friend and managed to finish it all. It came with a yogurt sauce which was tasty but I would have preferred the curry dipping sauce that my fish main course came with. The highlight of the Andhra chicken was the fried swiss chard at the base of the dish. This was crispy and unique and seasoned very nicely. The panko crab cakes, however, were a let down. While the presentation of the three perfectly formed and breaded cakes was beautiful, they lacked flavor and texture. You couldn't even taste the crab. I'd skip these next all together. For the main, my friend and I both ordered the fish; it was a nice portion of halibut covered in a onion based brown sauce. It was presented wrapped in a banana leaf and was perfectly cooked. This dish was accomopanied with a snow pea sabzi with coconut which was absolutely delightful. I would have ordered this as a side if offered as an option. The beauty of the peas was that it wasn't overly spiced nor overcooked; the peas shoots were cut in small pieces and still crispy. Back to the halibut, which also was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The dish also came with a large portion of rice which was light, fluffy and I think had coconut in it. both my friend and I ended up taking most of our main home since we were getting full from our starters and wanted to enjoy dessert. We saw that several other diners ordered the lamb shank which looked very appetizing and I'm sure hit the spot for those meat lovers. The dessert was mason jar rasai malai. I typically don't enjoy ras malai because I find the base rubbery but the base of this dessert was a soft cake and layered with cream; sort of like a tiramisu. The flavors of rose water and cardamom were there and best of all, it wasn't too sweet. Overall the food at Saffron is nicely flavored and presented well. Our server was nice and attentive.
This has actually become one of our favorites in Burlingame.
We have dined in several times and also ordered take out and it is ALWAYS steller. That said, if you can dine-in, go enjoy the exceptional service. They are eager to educate you about the menu, the service is spot on, and the food is nothing less than heavenly. This is a HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Huge fan of saffron and I'm a regular there.
Very attentive crew, delicious food and fantastic cocktails! Love the ambience and vibe as well. One of the best Indian restaurants in the Bay Area. Cannot recommend this place enough! Must visit!
Awful food, overpriced, will not return.
Went with large group and wanted to try small tastes of various items named street food on menu. Not good.
Great flavorful food.
Beyond my high expectations. Service was so nice as well. Wish I took pictures of the food. Ambiance is very nice and clean. Pretty inside and out. It's on a side street so a bit more quiet and less foot traffic if you eat outside. They do have heat lamps. And again, every single staff member I interacted with was extremely, genuinely nice. And not the fake nice because they have to be. But the real kind.
I'll keep it short.
... Go keep going back for the Malai Paneer over and over and over again.... try it

Saffron is an upscale Indian restaurant and one of the better places to get pani puri. While the puri is not the same as what I've had overseas, it's more on par with what I expected compared to other places in the SF Bay Area. There are several vegetarian-friendly options. I am a huge fan of the paneer kofta curry. The sauce is amazing and we ordered a side of naan to scoop up any remaining sauce. I also love the dosas here. I've tried the basil dosa and the Bollywood dosa. Part of the fun is how big the dosas are! It took 4 people to finish one order. I will say that I was primarily interested in the Bollywood because of the ghost pepper aspect. It has a bit of a kick, but it's nowhere as spicy as one would think (considering it IS a sauce made from ghost pepper). The chefs definitely toned it down and I felt like like it could have been spicier. Guess the team didn't want to be held responsible for any deaths - literally and figuratively. The interior is nice, especially the small bar area. There's one cute semi-booth that is probably my favorite 2-top. Otherwise, the upstairs is great for larger parties. My one tiny complaint is how staff hover around when you pay the bill. They bring the card reader and swipe your card, then wait around as you select a tip with pre-selected options of 20%, 22%, and 26%. I believe there's a 3% additional mandate as well. Honestly, it just makes me super uncomfortable with someone looking over my shoulder when I'm trying to figure out the bill. I would rather they just leave the machine while I make my selection and then pick it up after we leave. Other restaurants I've frequented allow me to take my time, and I very much appreciate that tactic.

This is the perfect place to take your crazy friend who is scared to try Indian food. I don't have any of those friends in my life, as I think not liking Indian food is as insane as thinking puppies aren't cute. I wouldn't associate with anyone like this. However, I know that the majority of Indian Restaurants I have gone to are divvy, but always full of flavor, just not that Instagram worthy. Not to mention you walk away smelling like Indian Food, for the next few hours. That being said, I guess I can understand why some might have reservations about trying Indian Food. This place was none of the above, it had a beautiful ambience, delicious food, that came out minutes after placing our order. It even had gorgeous mock and cocktails. We had gone to an Indian restaurant earlier in the week, which I didn't think was all that great, and just left me craving Indian food even more. I am pleased to report that this place curved my craving.
If you're looking for a fancy but not ~too fancy~ dinner
If you're looking for a fancy but not ~too fancy~ dinner spot for Indian, I highly recommend Saffron! All of their meat is halal and every dish we tried was really flavorful, the Bombay sliders were a favorite. Their portions are on the smaller side, but the quality and flavors definitely make up for it. The only downside was the customer service, the servers weren't the most hospitable and we were a group of 8, so they were pretty impatient with us the whole time we were there. *The surrounding area is really nice filled with other restaurants and dessert shops, and street parking is easy to find*
