Rib Room New Orleans Reviews from The Last Year
I was there very recently with friends.
The place was lovely and the prices were pricey. The food was surprisingly ordinary and had very little taste. This is in NEW ORLEANS! What the heck? Whoever cooked the fish dishes for me and my date was clearly not trained by professionals. I have had better meals in divey places but I live here in New Orleans and the back of the house in NOLA typically knows how to cook very well! And the dessert was plain as well. The service was adequate but not great, especially surprising for a $$$$ place in the French Quarter. My 10 minutes with my UBER driver provided a better personality and interaction than the servers..
I'm reviewing based on breakfast room service, desserts and
I'm reviewing based on breakfast room service, desserts and bar service. We did not have dinner in the Rib Room. Our breakfasts were plentiful and so delicious - and there were some adorable bonuses like bday cakes for two of the days and extra sides (yogurt parfait, extra grits) etc to celebrate my bday. Our bar drinks were tasty and service impeccable. My only complaint is that I wish the bar was opened later every day. Kia, Joseph and Terry are all amazing! Thank you for making my 40th bday so special.
After reading reviews, I was nervous about our Easter
After reading reviews, I was nervous about our Easter reservations and hoping for the best. I was pleasantly surprised with our service and the food. I ordered the Rib Room omelette and it was simply divine. My company ordered the salmon platter (it was generous and fresh) and the crawfish quesadillas, which were a unique and tasty blend. Our server was friendly, and our drinks were refilled several times. The atmosphere was beautiful and grand, and the staff was very friendly. The food didn't come quickly, but you certainly weren't rushed to finish it either. I would go back!
Chef Michael took amazing care of us.
5-star service all the way! His steak was incredible and melted in your mouth. We can't wait to return!!!
Fantastic dinner.
Food was amazing but the service was the highlight! Arti was helping us tonight and was so insightful and attentive. We had a great experience with a beautiful view!
A Downer Experience
We were in New Orleans with friends and decided to take a break at Toucheโs next to the Omni but they were crowded so we went to the Rib Room Bar. They were not crowded so we sat at a table and waited for service. There were two bartenders with one of them just looking at us while he played on his phone. His name was Franky and he just walked around and never greeted us or approached our table. We were about to leave when the other bartender - a woman came and asked us if we needed anything - we ordered drinks which were delivered by Franky -I told him we were fixing to leave when the other bartender came so he just shrugged his shoulders. No one came to check on us again so we went to the bar, paid our bill and left vowing to not return - so not like their Touchรฉ Bar who we love Donna the bartender there who always welcomes us with a smile.
We went for lunch.
Rib room salad was bad. It was not made fresh and green leves were soggy. Also disappointed with Prime rib debris po boy. Cocktails and fries were good. Very good service.
Best breakfast I had while staying in the French Quarter!
Best breakfast I had while staying in the French Quarter! The service was very solid and I was quickly attended to, the food was great and did not disappoint!!
A terrible experience.
I went with a group of 5 for brunch on New Years Day. To say it was a disappointment would be an understatement. The restaurant was only partially full and there were enough staff working, however the service was awful. It took over an hour to get our entrees, our drinks were never refilled, and our waiter went completely MIA after our food was delivered. My husband had to ask 3 separate staff members for the check, after waiting for at least 30 mins after finishing our meals. The food was mediocre at best. Our original waiter never returned to our table. We also had a gluten free person with us and our waiter was unable to answer her questions and did not offer to ask the chef. At this point, GF diets are not a new concept and this should have been better handled. We will not be returning.
First off we had a limited menu because it was Christmas
First off we had a limited menu because it was Christmas eve, but they didn't communicate with us at all that this was the case and if it was we wouldn't have chosen to eat here. The fried oyster devil eggs was great probably the best thing that we had. The soup was alright and then they added this white wine and it ruined it completely. The salad was garbage mine didn't even come with dressing, the lettuce was soggy and croutons over seasoned and difficult to chew. The prime rib was excellent very simple not much to be said the sides were god awful. Mashed potatoes felt like warm and have been sitting out for a while. The bread pudding wasn't even moist just was like a dry cake. How do you not make a bread pudding moist I truly do not know. To cap it all off we didn't want the bread pudding, but they ran out of cake. How do you run out of cake when you had a selected menu and reservations. Failed to prepare it was very embarrassing. What a disappointment after such a good first impression when you walk in it's a very nice ambience and decorated well. Lighting and vibe is very old timey. The only reason they are receiving stars.
Have eaten here before and it was great.
Not this time. The place is beautiful and the staff very attentive and professional but the food was not good. Sent back the prime rib as it was so tough you almost couldn't cut through it. Had to send it back. My girlfriend ordered the short rib which was just ok. 2 stars seems about right. Not eating here again. Too many really good restaurants in this town.
Bad service and food
Ate there last night. Restaurant was literally empty. Lots of staff standing around chatting and not really interested in serving customers. 4 of us ordered 2 starters and 4 mains. 1 starter arrived and we waited for other starter which had obviously been forgotten. We had to chase the staff for the missing starter fritto misto which when arrived was not good. Could hardly taste the seafood for the thick breadcrumbed coating. Whilst we were still eating the seafood starter they served the main courses which were cold and had obviously been sat around while we ate our starters. The chicken was dry and tough and the fish dishes were swimming in oil. Creamed spinach side was literally cream with a little hint of spinach. Desert menus we handed to us but we waited and waited for someone to come and take the order so in the end just asked for the bill and left. Worst meal of our 10 night tour. Would not recommend at all and definitely would not return. Sure there is much better restaurants in New Orleans
Exceptional New Orleans Restaurant!
My husband and I were in New Orleans for our anniversary and made reservations at The Rib Room the first night and since we were staying at the Omni Hotel, it only made sense. The restaurant is aesthetically pleasing and has a very historical look which I happen to love! The entire staff was extremely professional, helpful, and on point during our entire visit. The manager actually stopped by our table to ensure that everything was going well. My husband and I had a really good conversation with him, and he made us feel right at home and appreciated. The Rib Room was a very enjoyable and delicious experience for us, and we will definitely be back!!
Great establishment, definitely recommend!
My girlfriend took me for my birthday, and I canโt say really anything negative. Great service from Artie and the rest of the staff. Speedy service and very tasty food. The steak tasted great and the salmon I had tasted great. Plus they paid attention to detail about it being my birthday. My girlfriend told them Iโm not big on a big thing for my birthday but they still did a little something for me and made it feel special and not over the top. All around a great experience and definitely will recommend to anyone wanting to get a nice fine dining night out!
Solo lady diner
Solo lady ...what a nightmare. Rib Room only had a few people scattered around...host asked me only one? Yes. He rolled his eyes looked at his seating chart forever. I said I'd like to sit by the window. He actually looked at me and said NO. I said no? He said I'm kidding. Ha ha very funny..he started walking me toward a table in the very back by the dark kitchen where no one else was seated. I said I want to sit at that table by the window please. He said at a four top? That's for 4 people. I said there's no one in here hardly and you're not busy, I'm not going to be here long. He begrudgingly took me over to the window table without a menu and immediately the busboy started noisily clearing the other 3 place settings away. The waiter came over mumbling Solo lady great. He asked me if I was alone I said yes. He looked absolutely disgusted. I told him I already knew what I wanted. He said do you want bread and water? Yes. Bus boy brought it over. Waiter finally came over and got my order.. he seemed to be in a hurry and talked to me from a distance. He then said he couldn't hear me. I put my order in and sat there for awhile and still feeling not wanted as a customer so I just got up and left. No one asked me how was everything, host was not even at the host desk. He was wandering around the restaurant bored looking. I feel leaving was the best thing I've ever done in my whole life. Never will go back there again unless I want to feel helpless and insulted
Great lunch and breakfast
Although the room is too large and formal for a lunch or breakfast we had lunch there the day we arrived. I had the spicy hard boiled eggs with fried oyster on top and this was a remarkable dish. The yellow was indeed spicy and topped with the oyster it is a dish I will want again. My husband had a turkey, ham club sandwich which was also delicious. We took leftovers up to our room and had them for lunch the next day.
OK but avo toast needs a mentor
Avocado toast: not bad, but weird. You need to mash the avos, not just slice them and put them on a piece of tough bread with cherry tomatoes on top. This is not acceptable Avo toast. Smoked salmon platter was as expected, nothing unusual.
Fall Visit
My wife and I travel to New Orleans often, and this was our first visit to The Rib Room. We dined early and the service was excellent, and the Old Fashion from the bar was very good. The beef wasnโt. The prime rib was ordered medium rare, and I believe it was prepared under a salamander, it wasnโt good and just badly prepared. My wifeโs Ribeye was over seasoned; especially with garlic. The outside was charred, and not in a good way. Not all was lost on the $$240 receipt. Now this is ironic, but my mother-in-laws redfish with the pickled onions was excellent along with the oyster deviled eggs. I rarely leave reviews, but Iโve wanted to dine here for many years, and was greatly disappointed. Hopefully it was the early dine time
The Burger Was SPLENDID
I had their Burger. The Bun was amazing and the it was cooked to perfection! The Bar tender who was african american and bald was very attentive and went above and beyond!
Very nice restaurant week lunch
Very nice restaurant week lunch. The site needs me to say more but nothing more needs to be said......
