Summit House Restaurant + Bar Summit Reviews from The Last Year
Chef AJ & the staff of Summit House are true professionals,
Chef AJ & the staff of Summit House are true professionals, who take great detail in everything they do. I've enjoyed multiple meals here & never once had an under 5 star experience. Bill, the bartender makes fantastic cocktails & asks for your flavor profiles for guidance. The Hot Fuzz cocktail is superior imo to anything you can find in NJ as a whole. The mussel & fennel appetizer is perfectly balanced, the butter tasting is an absolute must try with cacio e pepe, French onion & sea salt flavors. The halibut entree is perfection, always perfectly cooked and a great size portion. I can't wait to be back & try more things!
The biggest rip off in the history of rip offs.
A family member took us there for mother's day. Wonderful gesture which we all appreciated. But you got literally (actually!) a SPOONFUL of food for $$$ per person! We couldn't even get a piece of bread! What restaurant has no bread when you're charging $$$ pp??? The menu had a total of 5 things (none of them interesting) to choose from. So if you're GF go elsewhere! This silly concept of your being bamboozled by the term *upscale* (meaning you get no food but pay a ton) is stupidity on the part of people who frequent these types of places.
Wonderful fixed menu evening based on the Provence.
Great music with French 75s. Excellent service. Only downside is the noise level, which is a bit high for intimate conversation.
We happened to be in Summit this afternoon and decided to
We happened to be in Summit this afternoon and decided to grab lunch with my in-laws. It was very slow inside and only 3 tables including us. We ordered our meals and appetizer. Kids got their meals first but when my daughter's food arrived. It was burnt and they thought it was ok to serve. I had to call the server over to ask if he thought it was burnt and he agreed and took it back for a redo. The 4 of us were waiting for our food and when the Waldorf salad arrived. They left my protein out. I had to call over my server again to take it back. I had to wait an additional 10mins to get it back and by then the sale was soggy and soaked in vinegar. The server was nowhere to be found and when he did come he was distracted. The place was empty so no excuse for bad service and horrible food. This place is mediocre at best. Disappointing with the service and food. First time and never will make the same mistake again and telling others do not go.
We had finished our drinks and waited almost 40 minutes
We had finished our drinks and waited almost 40 minutes when our server came by the table to tell us that our food ticket hadn't been received by the kitchen and he would need to retake our orders. A bit frustrating but not the end of the world. When our food came out over an hour after we had first served the yolk in the eggs Benedict was completely hard and the entire meal was no longer warm. One of our dishes had a clearly rotten pickle on the plate that was discolored. They also brought the wrong dish for the third member of the party. The manager offered to comp the incorrect order since we had waited for so long and then did not comp it on the check. When the manager came over to check on our table he asked how the food was and responded sarcastically when we didn't responded that it was "okay" and not great. For higher than average price points for the area we would expect a better service and much better food. They offered us free dessert to make up for the food being late/wrong, but just brought out half melted ice cream. Would not recommend or return.
I wish I could give 0 stars.
Restaurant was empty when we arrived. The manager turned us away saying there are no tables open (literally 20 tables open). My family and I have eaten at this restaurant so many times before. It was inconsiderate and appalling customer service. The waiters are very nice but the management sucks. Overpriced restaurant and overly salty and undercooked food. Save your money. Get to Due 360 or any of the other fine establishments in Summit.
At Summit House there seems to be an increasing disconnect
At Summit House there seems to be an increasing disconnect between price and quality, and not in a good way. I could proceed with laborious details of disappointment but I think you get the gist.
Went there for valentines day.
Had the Seafood Tower and the Duck. They were both exceptional. We also had the Brisket with sweet potato, it was okay. I would have done another seafood tower instead of the brisket. The restaurant was clean, friendly, and very welcoming and cozy. The waiters and staff that bought out the food and bar staff were great. I would definitely go there again
This place has a new open feel.
The place is clean including the bathroom. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The food was horrible. Don't do the steak. The chicken was bad as well. The sever failed to check on us for drinks and our meals. I'm usually a two drink plus customer however in this place I left with only one drink. I rate this place a one time and never again. Buyer beware.
Wow, I can't believe I first reviewed this place six years
Wow, I can't believe I first reviewed this place six years ago. It's funny how time flies, it feels like just yesterday I heard they were opening. I hadn't been to Summit house in quite some time, and my mom thought it would be nice to go on her birthday for brunch. I didn't check the yelp reviews before we went, and we got nervous when we got there and I started yelping to see what brunch items people liked and took photos of. There were a lot of complaints about weekend brunch. This made us pretty nervous to order. My mom and I shared the pastrami hash, which was actually a pretty decent choice. We chose scrambled for how we wanted the eggs, I didn't love the eggs, something tasted a little off. The potatoes were fried nicely, and I liked the peppers which weren't soggy but were nice and crisp. My stepdad got the mushroom bisque which he enjoyed but said it was quite small. For the $16 price tag I expected the soup to be a little more filling. The side of fries were crispy. The service was good, the food was fine, but the the value was not there. Also limited vegetarian brunch options for someone who doesn't want pancakes or French toast/a sweet breakfast.
