In all my 15 years of eating at nice restaurants in Miami I have never experience such a disappointment as the Gramercy. We have two kids one is 4 and one is 7 and they have dinned with us out everywhere around Miami from the Forge to Capital Grill and they are very well mannered. My father was visiting from out of town, and we decided to make a reservation at the Gramercy. With Open Table you must put a credit card down and we did. 30 minutes before our reservation (we had an early reservation 6:00 pm), we were on our way out the door and got a text that said no one under 21 may eat inside. I was stunned as there was no indication on open table when I made the reservation, I immediately called the restaurant and the first person was nice, said she would call the manager and see if an exception could be made since we had an early reservation, unfortunately she couldn’t get anyone transferred us to an extension that hung up on us. I called back, I was put on hold for 10 minutes, and the next person was extremely rude and said sorry nothing can be done you must sit outside. I am sorry but that was not disclosed when we made the reservation and I asked that the reservation be cancelled so we could go somewhere else. She told us that was not possible and if we didn’t come our credit card would be charged 5 people x 25 for a total of $125.00. I have never, never been so frustrated at a restaurant in my life. This is a deceptive practice, if they didn’t want kids they should say so. I was not making a reservation to dress up nice with my father to sit on the sidewalk. After that conversation I asked for the manager, and she refused to transfer me only offering his email. This is a very poorly run establishment that should be ashamed. They already have fairly poor reviews, but it looked like a cool place to try, but after the customer service experience if there was less than a star to give this place, they should get it. We did go to a different restaurant which was fine, but for me dinner was ruined, I just couldn’t believe that they refused to cancel my reservation and not charge me after they failed to disclose no kids inside the restaurant, that is just crazy and unethical.
